Central State Appreciation Day canceled

WILBERFORCE — Due to a forecast of potentially severe weather this weekend, Central State University officials have canceled Saturday’s planned Fan Appreciation Day festivities. There was no word as to whether the event would be rescheduled later in the season.

The school also did not confirm whether the planned 10 a.m. Women’s Clinic was canceled. Please call the CSU Sports Information Office at (937) 376-6345 for further information.

Boys Golf

Indians fall to Fairbanks

SPRINGFIELD — Noah Myers shot a 40 to lead Cedarville, but Milford Center Fairbanks turned in four of the top-5 scores of Wednesday’s match to claim a 169-187 team win at the Locust Hills Golf Club.

Todd Crowe shot a top score of 39 for Fairbanks. Other scorers for Cedarville (1-2, 1-2 OHC) were: Adam Wood (45); Caleb Smith (49), Daly Blevins and Jadon Horsley (53s).

Cedarville was to play Ohio Heritage Conference foe Greeneview on Thursday.

Fairborn Youth Wrestling program seeks coaches, directors

FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Varsity Wrestling program is looking to start up the Skyhawk Youth wrestling program. Fairborn is currently looking for coaches and directors. If interested, please contact head coach Bill Dawson at (937) 302-7094 or the high school athletic office at (937) 878-6305.

Central State names 2016 Induction Class

WILBERFORCE — The 2016 Hall of Fame Luncheon will be held at the Country Club of the North at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14. All those planning to attend must RSVP prior to the event and purchase their ticket(s) on or before Friday, Oct. 2.

Five individuals and four teams make up this year’s class:

• Leonard “Tony” Blaine ‘62

• John E. Day ‘71

• Eric Love ‘83

• Dr. Paul Nitz

• James Rollins ‘96

• 1960 & 1962 men’s cross country teams

• 1983 football team

• 1991 women’s track & field team

Col. CK Nayudu Trophy tournament, Aug. 27

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek Cricket Club will be hosting a cricket tournament starting at 8 a.m. sharp Aug. 27 at Rotary Park. Teams composed of 7 overs-7 players will play a minimum of three matches, with the winning team winning $250. Runners-up receive $150, and the tournament’s Man of the League earns $50.

Registration fee is $100 and must be paid by Aug. 22.

Xenia Tornadoes hosting 2017 tryouts

XENIA — The Xenia Tornadoes semi-professional football team will hold a tryout for its 2017 team at 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at Spring Hill Park, located just off Ormsby Drive, in Xenia.

Tryouts are free, make sure you bring water cleats and shorts. Tryouts will consist of agility drills, route running, and more. Come out and give it a shot!

Bocce Blitz to benefit Carroll HS football program

RIVERSIDE — The second annual “Bocce Blitz” will be held Saturday, Aug. 20. at Sons of Bella Vista Hall at 2625 County Line Rd. Proceeds will benefit the Carroll Letterman Club which supports the Carroll High School football program.

First round starts at 3 p.m. The Bocce Blitz will recognize two special teams in Carroll history: the class of 1975 with an 8-2 record during the 1974 season; and the class of 2006 with an 11-3 record during the 2005 season.

The cost is $75 per player, including a steak dinner, or $30 for the dinner only, if pre-registered by Aug. 19. Players from the classes of 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 will be charged only $10 to play. Xenia offering sports passes

XENIA — The Xenia High School Athletic Department will be offering four different all-sports passes for the 2016-17 school year. Passes are good for unlimited admission to all home Xenia athletic events for Middle School and High School. (Not valid for away contests or Ohio High School Athletic Association-sanctioned tournaments.)

The following passes are available:

Student Pass $50.00

Adult Pass $75.00

Family Pass $225.00 (good for 4 people in the same household). Additional family members in the same household may be added for $25 each.

Senior Citizens Pass FREE 62 years of age and older.

These passes can be purchased and picked up in the athletic department at the high school.

Reds offering ‘Sliding into Om’ yoga session

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds Major League Baseball organization is inviting yoga practitioners of all skills and ages to enjoy “Sliding into Om,” a one-hour yoga session, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 3 on the Great American Ball Park field in downtown Cincinnati.

For $15, fans can practice yoga on the outfield, and get a View Level ticket to the 1:10 p.m. Sept. 4 Reds game with the St. Louis Cardinals. All yoga participants will be recognized during the seventh inning stretch.

For $25, fans can obtain the same package as above, plus receive an exclusive Cincinnati Reds yoga mat.

Anyone 12 or younger can participate in the event for free, if they are accompanied by a paying adult. Parking is not included. To reserve a spot online, go to: reds.com/yoga.
