Norman training in Pensacola

(Cedarville University student-athlete Grace Norman, of Jamestown, is competing in two events for two Team USA teams — the women’s 400-meter run and the triathlon — at the Paralympic Games, Sept. 7-18 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Robin Norman, Grace’s mom, has agreed to send us updates as often as she can. Right now, Grace is training with Team USA in Pensacola, Fla. – Editor)

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Grace arrived in Pensacola on Aug. 30. She said it is great there, but very humid! Hard to put in enough fluids each day to balance out the losses. Each day has started with an early swim in either a pool or open water in the gulf. Ocean water is a great simulation for Rio as she will be swimming in the gulf there, too. She falls into bed each night after working hard on the swim, bike, and run. Thursday was practice for transitions for the Paralympics Triathlon — you always want those to go more smoothly. Then Thursday night, Grace and Melissa Stockwell were on KP Duty. 🙂 They whipped up a fantastic stirfry meal for all the coaches and triathletes alike! —Robin Norman.
