Beavercreek loses
BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek girls volleyball team went 1-2, Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Class in Casstown. Beavercreek beat Adams Central from Monroe, Ind., 25-14, 25-17 and lost to Columbus St. Francis DeSales and Bellmont High School from Decatur, Ind. Both sets against DeSales were 17-25. Bellmont won 25-16, 26-24. The Beavers are 8-4 overall and host Springboro on Tuesday.
Beavers, Patriots still state-ranked
COLUMBUS — The Beavercreek boys soccer team dropped to fifth in the latest Division-I state rankings released Monday. The Beavers received 50 points. Cleveland St. Ignatius is No. 1, followed by Columbus St. Charles Prep, Medina and Mason. Carroll is No. 2 in the Division-II poll with 90 points. Columbus St. Francis DeSales is No. 1 with 100 points. Kettering Alter, which hosts Carroll, Tuesday, is tied for sixth. The Carroll girls are No. 5 in the girls D-II poll.
‘Creek girls blank Springfield
BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek girls soccer team beat Springfield, 8-0, on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Beavers are 4-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference National East Division, a half game behind Centerville.

Early hole buries Jackets
ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins stunned Cedarville with a goal in the second minute and never trailed in posting a 3-1 Great Midwest Athletic Conference men’s soccer victory on Saturday, Sept. 17. The outcome ended a four-game unbeaten string for the Yellow Jackets, 3-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 G-MAC.
The host Senators needed just 82 seconds to get on the board and added another score in the 30th minute for a 2-0 lead. Joel Twinem converted a penalty kick less than two minutes later to cut the difference in half. It was his first goal of the campaign. Davis & Elkins iced the result with a tally in the 84th minute to improve to 2-1-2 and 2-0-1 G-MAC.
Volleyball wins one, loses one
TAMPA, Fla. — The Wright State volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to host South Florida on Saturday, Sept. 17 as part of the USF Classic. Then that same day, the volleyball team closed out play with a sweep of Stetson to finish as runner-up in the tournament.
Senators rally for win
ELKINS, W.Va. — Three late goals propelled Davis & Elkins to a 3-1 win over the Yellow Jackets womens soccer team in a G-MAC women’s soccer contest on Sept. 17. Cedarville, 1-4 overall and 1-2 G-MAC, struck first after the two sides played a scoreless first half. Freshman Hannah Atkinson netted her second goal of the year on assists from Alyssa Maillefer and Bex Velloney just 19 seconds into the period. It stayed that way until the host Senators got three goals after the hour mark. D&E tied it in the 62nd minute, took the lead in the 69th, and then benefitted from an own goal in the 77th.
WSU nabs 4-0 win
FAIRBORN — The Wright State men’s soccer team exploded for four goals over a 6:42 span in the first half and went on to a 4-0 Horizon League decision over the University of Illinois Chicago, Saturday, Sept. 17 at Alumni Field.
Jackets stay in Round of 16
GREENWOOD, Ind. — Cedarville University men’s tennis players Matt Brumbaugh and Ryan Shomo finished a solid weekend at the ITA Division II Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Indianapolis on Sept. 17.
Brumbaugh advanced to the Round of 16 in singles while he and Shomo did the same in doubles. The Yellow Jackets were eliminated by #5 seed Kobus Sauerman and Austin M. Woody of Northwood (Mich.) in doubles by the count of 8-2. In singles, Brumbaugh was beaten by #6 seed Christoph Dreschler of Indianapolis, 6-3, 6-2.
Cedarville resumes its fall schedule 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 by hosting Findlay.
Raiders soccer ties Dayton
FAIRBORN — The Wright State women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with crosstown rival Dayton Sunday, Sept. 18 night at Alumni Field.

BEAVERCREEK — Wilberforce Bulldog Athletics will present its first golf tournament to benefit the university athletic program Saturday, Sept. 24 at Beavercreek Golf Course, 2800 New Germany Trebein Road. Beavercreek wrestling golf outing
BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek wrestling team is sponsoring a four-person Texas scramble golf outing Saturday, Oct. 1, at Beavercreek Golf Club. Shotgun start is at 8:45 a.m. The cost is $80 per golfer. Foursomes will be placed into flights. The fee includes golf, cart, range balls, and food and drink tickets. WILBERFORCE — The 2016 Hall of Fame Luncheon will be held at Country Club of the North 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14. All those planning to attend must RSVP prior to the event and purchase tickets on or before Friday, Oct. 2.
