Beavers bowl over ‘Boro
BEAVERCREEK — Cole Dorsten rolled a match-best 493 two-game series, while Beavercreek teammate Seth Koloski threw a 424 series, to lead the Beavers boys bowling team to a 2,371 to 2,024 win Tuesday over Springboro. Michael Donahue rolled a 370 two-game series, while Forrest Ewing (211), Nicholas Wood (210), Ben Patrick (160) and “Sub Score #1” (151) each contributed to the win.
Beavercreek bowls over ‘Boro II
BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek girls bowling team completed Tuesday’s sweep over Springboro with a 2,174 to 1,714 win over the Panthers. Brittany-Ann O’Connell led the Beavers with a 406 two-game series, while teammate Emily Florkey was right behind with a 403. Other Beavercreek scores were rolled by: Cameron Reich (two game 385 series); Raven Cooper (222 game); Kaylee Fernatt and Jenna Morgan (157s) and “Sub Score #1” (134).
Carroll strong in boys win
RIVERSIDE — Brody Dixon tossed a match-high 513 two-game series while Jacob Schoening and Shawn Williams rolled respective 441 and 421 series in the Carroll boys 2,746 to 2,516 bowling win over Hamilton Badin on Tuesday. Mitch Weitz had a two-game 343 series, Joshua Goodpaster threw a 180 game, and “Substitution #1” rolled a 150 for the Patriots.
Skyhawks win over Troy
TROY — Fairborn had four players scoring double digits. Brandon Easterling led all scorers with 14 points, while Shaunn Monroe, K.J. Redmon and Branden Lilley each added 13 points in the Skyhawks’ 73-58 win, Tuesday. Fairborn improves to 4-6, while Troy is now 4-6. Fairborn plays its next game Friday, January 13th against Tipp City Tippecanoe at Fairborn Baker Middle School.
Golden Eagles rally to OT win
MONROE — Trailing 31-23 after three quarters, visiting Bellbrook (4-4, 2-3 SWBL Southwestern) outscored Monroe 12-4 in the fourth to send Tuesday’s game into overtime. From there, the Golden Eagles outscored the Hornets (3-8. 0-5 SWBL Southwestern) 4-2 to win the Southwestern Buckeye League, Southwestern Division battle 39-37.
Nathan Cordonnier led Bellbrook with 14 point scored, while Donnie Crouch finished with nine. Monroe was led by Lawrence Puleo’s game-high 16 points.
Sidney dominates Xenia
SIDNEY — The host Yellow Jackets led 26-19 at the break, then limited visiting Xenia to just three points in the final quarter to claim a 54-35 win Tuesday. Ratez Roberts led Sidney (9-1, 7-0 Greater Western Ohio Conference, American North) with a game-high 22 points and teammate Andre Gordon was next with nine. Teandre’ Adams led Xenia (5-5, 2-4 GWOC American South) with nine points. The Buccaneers will host Piqua at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13.
Patriots nab road win
DAYTON — Eli Ramsey scored 25 points, Stafford Stevens scored 15, T.K. Robinson added nine and Jack Seltsam scored eight points in leading the visiting Carroll Patriots to Tuesday’s 65-58 win over Stivers. Carroll is now 5-6 overall, and will get back into Greater Catholic League Co-Ed North action at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 when they’ll host Dayton Chaminade Julienne.
Knights sink Yellow Springs
YELLOW SPRINGS — Visiting Xenia Legacy Christian Academy outscored host Yellow Springs in three quarters of play, and played even with the Bulldogs in the fourth, to claim a 64-50 girls basketball win on Monday. There were no individual statistics reported from the game. LCA is now 8-4 overall, 1-2 in the Metro Buckeye Conference, while Yellow Springs falls to 5-5, 1-3 MBC.
Carroll bests Beavercreek
RIVERSIDE — Host Carroll had doubled up Beavercreek by a 35-17 score at halftime, and cruised to a 62-53 win on Monday. The Patriots’ Morgan King led all scorers with 20 points, Amanda Schroeder was next with 13 points and a dozen rebounds, and Allie Stefanek finished with11 points in the win.
Four Battlin’ Beavers scored in double digits: Carmen Williams led Beavercreek with 14 points, Lexi Moore scored 12 points, while Keaira Youngblood and Cori Dilsavor both finished with 10.
Upcoming events
JYSB registrations under way
JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Youth Softball and Baseball organization (JYSB) will hold registration opportunities for the upcoming 2017 season from Jan. 11 through Feb. 15 for all leagues. A new division, Ram-Ball, will be offered as a way to create interest in baseball and softball for youngsters ages 3 and 4. Late registration will run through March 3, but includes an additional late fee.
Costs are as follows: Ram-Ball (co-ed, ages 3-4) $35; T-Ball (co-ed ages 5-6) $75; 8U Coach Pitch (ages 7-8), 10U (ages 9-10), 12U (ages 11-12), and 15U (separate from OHSAA, season begins after the high school season ends) $75.

Fairborn induction Saturday
FAIRBORN — The Fairborn High School Athletic Department will host its third Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony beginning with a 4:30 p.m. dinner Saturday, Jan. 14 in the FHS Commons.
The 2016 Hall of Fame class consists of Ed McCloud (Class of 1964, Fairborn HS – Football/Baseball), Jackie (Smith) Whitaker (Class of 1981, Park Hills HS – Volleyball/Girls Basketball/Softball), Veasna Tith (Class of 1998, Fairborn HS – Boys Tennis), Fred J. Buschmeyer (Coach, Fairborn HS – Track & Field/Cross Country/Basketball) and the 1970 Boys Basketball District Championship team.
The official induction ceremony will take place at approximately 7 p.m. after the junior varsity boys basketball game and right before the scheduled 7:30 p.m. boys varsity game, at the Baker Memorial Fieldhouse, located at Baker Middle School, in Fairborn.
Xenia Hall of Fame ceremony set
XENIA — The 2016 class of inductees to the Xenia Hall of Fame will be introduced at the Jan. 13 Xenia High School boys varsity basketball game. This is the sixth class to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The 2016 Hall of Fame class — consisting of William “Bill” Wilson (track, and cross country coach 1954-‘79), Dr. David Hazel (football, track, class of 1970), Erin Hawley (swimming, 2008), Kristi Cope Elsman (soccer, basketball, 1993), Nick Ungard (golf, basketball, 1952), Richard Bennett (educator, coach, civic leader, 2016); Shawn Thigpen (basketball, track, 1993), Steve Smith (wrestling, 1988) and the 1985-‘86 XHS wrestling team — will attend the induction ceremony, which is set for 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at Faith Community United Methodist Church, 100 Country Club Drive. Any community member may attend.
Southwest Classic this weekend
CINCINNATI — The 34th annual Southwest Ohio High School Swimming and Diving Classic will take place Jan. 14-15 at several locations throughout SW Ohio. Approximately 2,650 swimmers and 150 divers are scheduled to compete in this year’s classic.
Bellbrook’s Cody Bybee and John Sampson, Carroll’s Dominic Harry, Xenia’s Hank Siefert and Xenia Legacy Christian’s Eric Knowles on the boys side. Among the top girls competitors are the Greene County area’s Abbey Duncan of Beavercreek, Carroll’s Claire Farrell and Olivia Chick of Yellow Springs.
Diving preliminaries will be held Jan. 14 at Miami University, Mason, Milford and Trotwood-Madison High Schools, with the finals set Jan. 15 at the University of Cincinnati. The swimming prelims will be held Jan. 14 at Countryside YMCA, the Dayton Raider Aquatic Center in Beavercreek, Miami University’s A&B pools, Mason, Milford, Cincinnati Princeton, Trotwood-Madison High Schools and the West Carrollton YMCA, with the finals taking place Jan. 15 in the Keating Natatorium at Cincinnati’s St. Xavier High School.
