Indians roll over Madison Plains

LONDON — C.J. Pahl collected three hits and knocked in four runs, Adam Wood drove in two runs on two hits, Joey Lewis had a pair of hits, and Ben Supplee drove in two runs in Cedarville’s 17-1 win over Madison Plains, Thursday, March 30.

Cedarville pitchers Andrew Pollander and Keith Gnau combined to three-hit the host Golden Eagles. The local weather might have other ideas, but Cedarville (1-2) is scheduled to host Dayton Dunbar at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, April 1).

Rams butt the Polar Bears

DAYTON — Visiting Greeneview won four of the five matches by shutout in Thursday’s March 30 5-0 win over Northridge. Will Irvin claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nathan Snedeker; Jake McComas defeated Northridge’s Josh Brown 6-0, 6-0; and Noah Rogers claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win over Harley Geiser in first, second and third singles respectively.

In doubles, the Rams pair of Mitchell Link-Nick Smith claimed a 6-2, 6-0 win over Travis/Woods of Northridge. Greeneview’s Matt Hovan-Darian England combo blanked the Polar Bears’ Wilson/Bennett duo, 6-0, 6-0.

Knights knip Fairborn

ENON — Fairborn senior Taylor Rice went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in, and freshman Riley Davis also had a 2-for-3 day at the plate, but host Greenon scored in the bottom of the sixth to claim a 5-4 win on Thursday, March 30.

Sophomore Kelsie Coleman had a hit, Chloe Becraft singled and drove in a run, and Megan George had a hit and a stolen base in the Skyhawks’ loss.

Central State Auxiliary Corps holding clinics, auditions

WILBERFORCE — The Central State University Auxiliary Corps will hold clinics and auditions for their cheerleading, mascot, dancers, color guard/flags, majorettes (baton) and banner girls in April. CSU is seeking individuals who will excel in academics, set high standards of character and behavior for the student body, as well as represent the student body as entertaining squads, stimulate school spirit, grow, bond and unite in spirit as a team.

Xenia taking Hall nominations

XENIA — The Xenia Athletic Hall of Fame committee is now accepting nominations for its 2017 induction class. An individual, team, coach or a community contributor can be nominated. These nominations can be for those athletes, teams, coaches, and community contributors who were associated with Xenia Central, Xenia High School, Xenia East, and/or Spring Valley.

Nominations will be considered from all eras. The last day for the committee to accept nominations will be April 26. Forms can be obtained by going to the Xenia Community Schools official website www.xenia.k12.oh.us/, then to the Athletics link, and then to the Athletic Hall of Fame link. Bucs hosting recruiting seminar

XENIA — The Xenia athletic dept will be holding a FREE recruiting seminar at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday April 5: “Guiding the College-Bound Athlete” put on by Dynamite Sports. Parents of athletes grades 7-12 are encouraged to attend. This seminar will cover NCAA Division I to small-college opportunities for athletes. The seminar will inform parents and athletes how to get recruited, how to get scholarships, how to setup visits to schools, and when to get started. Each family that attends will receive a ACT/SAT Prep DVD. Parents and athletes from other districts are welcome as well!

Shady Bowl cancels opener

DeGRAFF — Shady Bowl Speedway promoter Rick Young has been forced to cancel the season opener set for Saturday April 1. Rain and cold are in the forecast and the speedway grounds are already saturated. The late models, modifieds, street stocks, pure stocks and compacts will be on the racing schedule for next Saturday April 8. Racing will begin at 7. Competitors are once again reminded that transponders will be mandatory for all classes in 2017.

Learn to Play Pickleball

BEAVERCREEK — Join the Beavercreek Parks Department for A Learn to Play Pickleball program from 10:30-12 p.m., or 6-7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 4, at Dominick Lofino Park, 640 Grange Hall Road.

Experienced pickleballers will be present to teach beginners how to play. This free program is “drop in” to learn and try it out. Equipment will be available for those who do not have their own. Beavercreek Fastpitch signups

BEAVERCREEK — Signups for the 2017 Beavercreek Fastpitch softball season continue, with practice for 8U, 10U and 12U leagues set to begin in April. Registration forms were sent home with Beavercreek students in first through fifth grade. Middle school and high school students can still obtain registration forms in their school offices. Practice for Beavercreek Fastpitch 14U and 18U league teams will begin after the scholastic softball season has ended, in approximately mid-May.

Beavercreek adult softball

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department is currently accepting registrations for Summer Adult Softball for coed and men’s teams.

For fees and times contact the parks department. The league fees include team sanctioning, softballs, umpire fees, and awards. The season runs from April 17 to July 25 with all games played at Rotary Park. Lions Club league signups online

BELLBROOK — The Bellbrook Lions Club would like to announce registrations for the summer baseball, softball and T-ball programs for children ages 6-15. Parents may register their children by visiting the Lion’s Club sports website at www.bellbrooklionssports.org.

The program will begin with practices in the month of April, with games beginning in May. Softball practice will begin in May, with games ending in mid July.

Tai Chi classes offered

BEAVERCREEK — Improve your health, balance and manage stress by enrolling in Beginning Tai Chi for Health and Wellness class offered by Beavercreek Parks, Recreation & Culture. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Class is scheduled for Wednesdays, April 5 – May 13, 6-7 p.m. at C. I. Beaver Hall, 3696 Highmont Street. Fee is $45 for residents; $52 for non-residents.
