Chamber golf outing in May

JAMESTOWN — The annual Jamestown Chamber of Commerce golf outing will take place 11 a.m. Friday, May 19 at Sebastian Hills Golf Course, 1100 Knoll Haven Road. Registration opens at 10 a.m. Free driving range and putting green privileges will be available as well as getting a hot dog or two courtesy of Countryside Propane.

Participants will be able to enjoy beverages and snacks, courtesy of the Chamber, and when the golf is over Kelley’s Café will be providing all participants and volunteers a wonderful meal at the golf course. The annual golf outing proceeds benefit Chamber activities, programs and scholarships to the Jamestown and surrounding communities.

Kids fishing derby

BEAVERCREEK — Grab those fishing poles, bait and tackle to a new derby location 8-11:30 a.m. May 20 to Phillips Park, 2132 Dayton-Xenia Road.

Beavercreek Parks, Recreation & Culture and McAfee Heating & Air are sponsoring the ninth annual Fishing Derby. Mister C will take the stage at 10:30 a.m. to do a Hair Raising Science program. Prizes will be awarded at 11 a.m. to the child who catches the smallest, largest and most fish. No pre-registration is required.

SW Ohio Track practices

YELLOW SPRINGS — The Southwest Ohio Track Club summer program starts on May 30 at Yellow Springs High School. The practices are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. A host of meets will take place this summer. Practices for 7-12 year olds: 5-6 p.m. Practices for 13 and older: 6-7:30 p.m.

The SWOTC includes elementary, middle school, high school, post collegiate and master athletes. All are welcome. The SWOTC is a tax exempt and sanctioned program. BYSA signups underway

BEAVERCREEK — Registration for the 34th season of the Beavercreek Youth Softball Association is under way. This is a co-ed recreational program for kindergarteners through seniors in high school. Good sportsmanship and team play are emphasized. Residents from surrounding communities are permitted to play. Kindergarten through the eighth grade teams are put together based on play- with requests and also grouped by schools and churches, while the ninth-10th grade league and 11-12th grade leagues are put together mostly by the players themselves.

Bowl with the Reds

CINCINNATI — Register today for the Cincinnati Reds Bowling Bash presented by Adams Recovery Center on Sunday, June 4 at the Super Bowl in Erlanger, Ky. Dayton Boat Club summer camps

DAYTON — The Dayton Boat Club will be holding two Introduction to Rowing Camps this summer for youth in Grades 7-12. Each camp will consist of eight two-hour training sessions. No experience necessary. All sessions are held at the Dayton Boat Club Boathouse located on East River Road near Moraine. Session 1 will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 19 – July 1 and Session 2 — July 17 – July 29.

Dynamo announce schedule

DAYTON — Dayton Dynamo FC, of the National Premier Soccer League, will play 10 home matches. Six of these will be NPSL regular season matches, all against Midwest East Conference opponents. The four other home dates will be exhibition matches, including one against FC Cincinnati of the United Soccer League.

Buddies program returns

DAYTON — Have you ever wanted to run onto Fifth Third Field alongside the Dayton Dragons? Visit your local Kroger store to sign up for a chance to be a Baseball Buddy. Kids (ages 7-13) who are randomly selected as winners. To enter, look for the display at your local Kroger store at the Customer Service Desk.

The Kroger Baseball Buddies experience includes: Hanging out in the dugout during pre-game to meet the Dragons players; Getting autographs and photos with the Dragons team; Being introduced over the PA like a player; Running out on the field with the team before that day’s game. Kroger Baseball Buddies will also receive several gifts including: A replica Dragons jersey, Dragons baseball hat, Drawstring backpack, Dragons pen and baseball to be autographed. One baseball buddy will win a free Fun Day at Fifth Third Field with 20 of their friends and Dragons players.
