CSU’s Mays Off. Player of the Week

ATLANTA — Central State University junior quarterback Trent Mays has been the named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Oct. 16.

Mays powered Central State to a 40-35 win on the road over NCAA Division I FCS school Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The 6-foot, 210-pound junior from Steubenville completed 20 of 34 passing attempts for a season-high 334 yards. He threw for one touchdown and ran 27 yards for another score as CSU earned its first victory of the season.

Mays is currently second in the SIAC with 1,379 passing yards this season. He also leads the Marauders with six rushing touchdowns. Mays is the first CSU student-athlete to earn SIAC weekly honors this season.

CSU will play its final home game of the 2017 season against Fort Valley State at 1 p.m. Saturday at McPherson Memorial Stadium in Wilberforce.

Gates will open at noon. Admission is $20.
