Curtis named to District first team

GREENE COUNTY — A total of 13 boys high school basketball players from the Greene County area were named to their respective All-Southwest District teams this season.

The group was led by Xenia junior Samari Curtis who led the Greater Western Ohio Conference in scoring for the second consecutive season. Curtis, who averaged 30.4 points per game in 17 games played, was the only boys player from the county to receive first-team honors, as he was named to the Division I district team.

Cedarville’s Colby Cross was the only player from the county to earn second-team recognition. Cross wass selected to the Division IV second team.

A trio of area talent was selected to their respective Divisions’ third teams. In D-II, Carroll’s Eli Ramsey was named to the third team. Greeneview’s Mason Schneider was named to the Division III third team, and Legacy Christian’s Erik Uszynski was selected as a third teamer in Division IV.

Eight area players received Honorable Mention status in their divisions.

In Division I, Beavercreek’s Jon Alessandro and Fairborn’s Shaunn Monroe made the honorable mention squad.

D-II had four area players on its list, from two area schools: Jack Campbell and Donnie Crouch of Bellbrook, and Carroll’s Matt Cogan and Simon Jefferson were named.

While there were no honorable mention picks in D-III, Legacy Christian Knights Keano Hammerstrom and Ashton Burke were both named in Division IV.

Senior Patriot Eli Ramsey led the Greater Catholic League Co-Ed in scoring, and was selected to the Division II Southwest District third team.
