Buccaneers rally past Greeneview
JAMESTOWN — Ashley Schloss recorded nine kills and had 10 blocks, Gabrielle Tobe bashed seven kills to go with a pair of service aces and 11 digs, Kaitlyn Schloss had 13 digs and a service ace, Valery Nix had 30 digs and Brianna Seigfried doled out 14 assists, to go with six digs and a pair of aces for the host Greeneview Rams, but the visiting Xenia Buccaneers rallied for a 29-31, 25-19, 20-25, 27-25, 15-11 win Wednesday. Xenia is now 3-7 while Greeneview falls to 1-10.
Girls Tennis
Fairborn cruises past Trotwood
The Fairborn Girls Tennis team had a short and sweet night at Trotwood-Madison as the hosts had only three players able to play. The only matches played were at first singles and first doubles where the Lady Skyhawks routed their hosts at both spots by identical 6-0 and 6-0 scores.
Brooklyn Hunter won her match over Aulonna Gooley in quick fashion. Teaming up at first doubles for the first time were Kyla Secrest and Acadia Wulf. Their initial collaboration resulted in an easy win over Aaliyah Gooley and Breanna Shafeek.
The Lady Skyhawks raised their record to 8-6 overall with the win.

EATON — Hunter Turner claimed medalist honors with a 49 to edge Eaton’s Houston Durham by one stroke in Thursday’s match at Eaton Country Club. Other top scorers for Bellbrook were: William Martin 52; Zach Pittman 55; Luke Mayberry 53; and Aaron Schmitt 53.

McGaha named Athlete of the Week
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Maureen McGaha, a Beavercreek graduate who now runs for the University of the Cumberlands, was named the Women’s Mid-South Conference Cross Country Athlete of the week on Monday. The weekly honor is the first of the season and first of her career for McGaha. Maureen ended the Centre Invitational 5,000-meter race in Danville, Ky. with a time of 20:14. Maureen was able to finish third in the race that featured four NAIA schools and three Mid-South Conference schools.
Senior Josh Moon, of Georgetown, was named the Mid-South Conference Cross Country Athlete of the week, conference officials announced on Monday. It is the first award of the season for Moon as well as first of his career.
McGaha, Moon and the rest of their Patriot teammates will participate in the Cedarville Invitational on Saturday in Cedarville.
Raiders win Holiday Inn Invite
FAIRBORN — The Wright State volleyball team won its second tournament title of the season Sunday, sweeping Saint Francis (Pa.) at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium to take the Holiday Inn Invitational.
The Raiders trailed 7-3 in the opening set before rattling off nine straight points to take the lead for good, a span that featured two kills and two blocks from Katie Klusman. WSU then erased a 12-9 deficit in the second set with a 9-3 run and scored eight of the final 11 points of the match, including three more Klusman kills.
Wright State finished with a 48-34 kill advantage and outhit the Red Flash .239-.094.
Klusman paced the Raiders with 21 kills in hitting .348 for the match while Marisa Aiello added nine kills and Megan Hopkins seven. Maddie Lohmeier had a near double-double of 40 assists and nine digs while Jessie Thornton recorded 17 digs and Katie Glassmeyer 15.
Named the outstanding players of the tournament were Maddie Lohmeier, Amanda Bedell of Akron and Hannah Kutny of Saint Francis.
Wright State (8-3) heads to Charleston, S.C. this weekend for its final regular-season tournament of the season in The Citadel Tournament. The Raiders will face North Florida (4 p.m.) on Friday followed by UNC Asheville (9 p.m.), and The Citadel (5 p.m.) on Saturday.
Marauders win in Atlanta
ATLANTA– Central State snatched its first victory of the 2015 campaign in dominate fashion with a 49-12 win over Clark-Atlanta University on Saturday.
After failing to score a touchdown in last week’s 22-14 loss to Alderson Broaddus, quarterback Marquis Wells and the offense lit up the scoreboard with seven trips to the end zone in route to the most points scored by a CSU team since 2012.
Marquis Wells finished the day with 179 passing yards with three touchdowns through the air and one rushing score. Christopher Murray accounted for 107 receiving yards and two scores. Gervell Morgan finished with a game-high nine tackles for a CSU defense that forced four CAU turnovers.
With the win, CSU climbs back to a .500 record at 1-1. The win also snaps a nine-game road losing streak dating back to Oct. 19, 2013. With back-to-back losses to Tuskegee and Central State, CAU falls to 0-2 on the year.
The Marauders travel to play Benedict College next Saturday in Columbia, S.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.
