Lebanon 2, Xenia 1

With four minutes left in the first half, Zach Brunsman scored the only goal for the Bucs. Thanks to several first-half saves by goalie Jared Robinson, Xenia led 1-0 at halftime. Lebanon scored a pair of second-half goals to claim Tuesday’s boys soccer win.

Carroll 42, Chaminade Julienne 6

RIVERSIDE — The Carroll Patriots and improved their record to 3-1 (1-0 Greater Catholic League) with a 42-6 GCL North varsity football victory over Chaminade Julienne at Patriot Stadium. Carroll raced to a 28-0 halftime lead. Carroll, led by Jason Pierce’s 3 sacks, a blocked punt, and 4 TD’s. Pierce scored 3 rushing TD’s and a 31 yard TD pass from QB Jacob Severt.

Carroll looks to improve to 2-0 in GCL League play when they travel to Cincinnati McNicholas to battle the Rockets on Thursday, Sept. 24.

Marauders blank Benedict

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Central State Marauders put up two early touchdowns and didn’t look back in Saturday’s 24-0 road victory over Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Benedict College.

With Saturday night’s victory, the Marauders (2-1) are off to the best start since 1996. The shutout performance by the Marauder defense was the first since a 22-0 victory over Lincoln back in 2009. CSU also improved its all-time record to 3-1 against Benedict, who fell to 0-3 on the season.

Contributing to the victory was CSU’s rushing attack, which outgained Benedict by 232 yards. Quarterback Marquis Wells and running backs Isaiah Grooms and Jihad Rasheed finished with 60-plus rushing yards each. The defense combined for six sacks, nine tackles for a loss and one interception. Linebacker Deonate Gary led the defensive charge with six tackles, including two huge stops on 3rd down to force BC punts.

The Marauders and Kentucky State Thorobreds reignite a rivalry that dates back to 1947 on Sept. 26 at the 32nd Circle City Classic at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. This year’s Circle City Classic will be featured on ESPN3 with the kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.

Raiders men’s soccer team ranked 20th

FAIRBORN — The Wright State men’s soccer team has been ranked 20th by topdrawersoccer.com.

The Raiders are riding a four-game winning streak and hold a 6-1 record after defeating Cleveland State 1-0 in overtime Saturday night. This is the team’s best start since WSU started 6-1 in 2003.

Junior forward Peguy Ngatcha leads WSU with five goals and two assists while freshman midfielder Jackson Dietrich has two goals and five assists. Junior goalkeeper Tyler Blackmer posted his fourth shutout of the year at CSU and holds a 0.57 goals against average.

Wright State will host Northern Kentucky on Tuesday and Green Bay on Saturday. Both games will start at 7 p.m. and will be shown live on ESPN3.

Circle City Classic tickets now on sale.

INDIANAPOLIS — Tickets for the 32nd Circle City Classic football game, between Central State University and Kentucky State University, are now on sale. The game will be played Saturday, Sept. 26 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Doors open at 2 p.m. with the opening kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.

Fans can enjoy a halftime show by Yazz the Greatest (aka Hakeem from the television show Empire), and post-game concert featuring Jeezy, Rico Love and Silento, is included with the ticket price.

Tickets range in price from $10-50 and are available online at: centralstate.universitytickets.com.
