Beavers lose to rival Centerville
CENTERVILLE — Although dominating most of the match in both possession and opportunities, Beavercreek lost to Greater Western Ohio Conference, Central Division opponent Centerville 1-0, Tuesday at Centerville High School.
Early in the match, Beavercreek looked like the stronger team, controlling the game with strong passing and an early break. Dominic Calabrese drove in close before being stopped by the Centerville goalkeeper. Later in the half, Centerville had a free kick opportunity that was turned away with a diving save by Beavercreek’s goalkeeper, senior Chris Cleverly.
Early in the second half, Beavercreek again was controlling the game, but a dipping strike from Centerville’s Jarrod Ferstl eluded Cleverly just under the cross bar for the first and only goal of the match.
Beavercreek (7-1-1, 1-1 GWOC Central) hosts Columbus St. Charles at 5 p.m. Saturday at Beavercreek High School. Centerville (5-1-3, 2-0 GWOC Central) plays Mason at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Centerville High School.

Beavers tie Centerville
BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek girls soccer team tied the rival Elks, 3-3, in a Greater Western Ohio Conference, Central division matchup Wednesday night at Beavercreek High School.
Beavercreek (4-2-3, 1-0-1 GWOC Central) is back in action on the road, at 7 p.m. Monday at Sidney High School.
Lebanon defeats Fairborn
FAIRBORN — The Skyhawks girls soccer team fell to Greater Western Ohio Conference, South division opponent Lebanon 5-0, Wednesday night at Fairborn High School.
Fairborn (3-7, 0-2 GWOC South) plays West Carrollton at 7 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 30 at West Carrollton High School. Lebanon (8-0-2, 3-0 GWOC South) plays at 7 p.m. Saturday at Kings Mills Kings High School.

Ohio Heritage Conference golf tournament wraps up
Mechanicsburg edged out Springfield Northeastern 340-346 to take the top spot of the Boys Ohio Heritage Conference golf tournament, on Wednesday. Greeneview took fourth place with a score of 367. Cedarville finished eighth, shooting 422 as a team.
Greeneview’s Wade Hovan led the Rams, finishing with an 86. Jerico Brown shot a 90. Cedarville’s Noah Myers finished with a 99. Brandon Smith shot a 105 for the Indians.
Hovan was named to the Boys All-OHC Honors Second Team. Brown, Daniel Sage and Zach Halder were all honorable mention picks for the Rams.
Northeastern remains at the top of the OHC standings with an 11-3 record and 23 points. Greeneview is tied with South Charleston Southeastern for fourth place in the conference with a 9-5 record and 17 points. Cedarville (0-14, 0 points) is in eighth place in the conference standings.

Rams fall to Madison Plains
JAMESTOWN — The Greeneview Rams lost a match to London Madison Plains in four sets 19-25, 15-25, 25-20, 21-25, Wednesday night at Greeneview High School.
Gabby Tobe had 10 kills and six aces in the match. Ashley Schloss had 10 kills and five blocks. Caitlin Sweat had nine kills, one ace and six blocks. Jenna Basinger had seven kills. Bryce Ratliff had two kills, two aces, six digs and 19 assists. Val Nix had 29 digs.

Dragons to host Fifth Third Bank College Prep Night
DAYTON — The Dayton Dragons and Fifth Third Bank will hold College Prep Night, a free educational event for prospective college students, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Fifth Third Field.
College Prep Night is a one-stop college resource event to guide incoming college students and their parents through the process of planning an educational path. High school students can talk to representatives from many of the region’s top colleges, and one lucky student in attendance will win a $1,000 college scholarship.
More than 1,000 students and their guests attend and more than 40 colleges and universities participate in this free event. Among the colleges scheduled to appear are Miami University, University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, Xavier University, University of Kentucky, Wright State University, and many more schools from around the region. Representatives will be on hand to answer whatever questions that students might have about college life at each particular school.
The $1,000 scholarship will be given away during the event to one lucky college-bound student. To be entered to win, parents or students must RSVP before the event at www.daytondragons.com/collegeprep and must attend the event.
In addition to visiting with the different schools, students and parents can participate in many of the dynamic, informative workshops that will tell them everything they need to know about college. Fifth Third Bank will educate attendees on navigating financial aid and how to pay for college.
