$5,000 Fall Grand Nationals this weekend

XENIA — The $5,000 Fall Grand Nationals will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Kil-Kare Dragway. Friday starts the race weekend off with the final Super Pro Double Up event of the 2015 season. Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5 per person or $15 for a car load. Kids 12 and under get in free. Payout structure, ET breaks, and small flyer with Entry Information can be found on the Dragway Schedule at Kilkare.com. Kil-Kare is located at 1166 Dayton-Xenia Road in Xenia. Girls Volleyball

Beavers clinch GWOC Central crown

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek defeated Kettering Fairmont in three sets 25-15, 25-18, 25-22 on Tuesday to capture the Greater Western Ohio Conference, Central Division title. Joyce Eid had nine digs, Beth Boos had seven digs, four aces and 30 assists, Spencer Franck had three kills, Tiare Saylor recorded seven digs, five aces and 15 kills, Hanna Lafevers served up four aces, Kelly Goenoga-Lask had five kills, Courtney Borgerding had three kills, and Brooke Farrell had seven kills in the win. Beavercreek (12-5, 5-0 GWOC Central) hosts Troy at 7 p.m. tonight for their final regular season match.

Skyhawks need five sets to defeat Xenia

XENIA — The visiting Fairborn Skyhawks fought hard against Xenia. Fairborn (8-8, 1-4 Greater Western Ohio Conference, South) won 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 15-10 . Leading the team with 11 kills, 30 assists seven digs and three aces was Kennedy Brown. Taylor Rice had a strong game with 16 kills. Xenia is now 7-10 overall, 1-4 GWOC South.

Boys Soccer

Fairborn rallies past West Carrollton

Fairborn Boys Soccer scored four goals in the second half to beat West Carrollton, 5-2, Tuesday night. Scoring for the Hawks were Brandon Cook, A.J. Greene (2), Julius Nyakayiru and Tyler Humble. Tanner Robinson had two assists and Julius Nyakayiru also had an assist.

Golden Eagles seek assistant varsity basketball coach

Bellbrook High School’s boys basketball team is seeking applicants for the Varsity Assistant Coach position. Applicants should have prior high school coaching experience, positive references available, and must be able to submit to a mandatory background check. Xenia Basketball Golf Scramble, Oct. 11

XENIA — The Xenia High School boys and girls basketball programs will host a four-person scramble golf event starting at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at WGC Golf Course in Xenia. Proceeds from the tournament will help to offset the teams’ costs throughout their respective seasons. Cost is $70 per person, $280 per foursome. Dinner and prizes will be available after the event. There will be long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, and a chance to win a new car with a hole-in-one on one hole. Buccaneers sweep Fairborn

The Xenia High School Jr. Varsity Volleyball team won their second straight match defeating Fairborn, 25-23 25-22. The Buccaneers (5-12, 4-5 Greater Western Ohio Conference, South) were led by Sarah Harner (12 points and an ace), Heidi Alex (seven points, ace), Alexis Adams (six points, five aces), Anna Brown (six points) and Grace Brown (six points).
