Beavers fend off Trotwood-Madison

BEAVERCREEK — Host Beavercreek trailed 22-18 at halftime, but a 16-8 third quarter gave the Beavers the lead for good in a 48-44 win over Trotwood-Madison on Saturday, Dec. 21. No individual statistics were provided by either team. Beavercreek is now 4-5 overall, 2-3 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference. The Beavers next play on Saturday, Dec. 28 when they’ll host Wilmington for a 1 p.m. game.

Skyhawks bedeviled by Tipp

FAIRBORN — Fairborn held an early 7-6 lead, but visiting Tippecanoe outscored the Skyhawks 54-33 the rest of the way, in a girls varsity basketball contest on Saturday, Dec. 21. Natalie Oktavec led Fairborn with 12 points scored, Jodee Austin scored 10, Nakiah Dunman added seven and Cassidy Mustard finished with six in the loss. The Red Devils’ Katie Hemmelgarn led all scorers with 16.

Fairborn next plays at Vandalia Butler for a 7:30 p.m. game on Monday, Dec. 30.

Green Wave swamps Xenia

GREENVILLE — A 14-6 second quarter was the different the host Greenville Green Wave needed in Saturday’s 48-39 Miami Valley League girls varsity basketball win. No individual statistics were provided by either team. Xenia, now 0-7 overall, 0-6 in MVL play, will host Miamisburg at noon on Saturday, Dec. 28 for its next game.

Marauders handle Albany State

ALBANY, Georgia – The Central State University women’s basketball team beat Albany State, 66-56, on Saturday.

With the win, CSU improves to 4-9 overall with a 2-3 ledger in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. ASU falls to 2-10 on the season with a 2-3 conference mark.

CSU forward Camryn DuBose went six for 12 from the field for a team-high 13 points. She also grabbed nine rebounds and blocked a shot in the victory. Takyra Gilbert added 12 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Ciera Norman led ASU with a game-high 18 points and four assists

Yellow Jackets rally past Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Quinton Green matched his career high with 30 points and Cedarville University’s men’s basketball team came back from 20 points down to shock Lynn in overtime, 87-84.

The Yellow Jackets enter the break 7-5 following their third straight overtime victory in which they erased a double digit deficit.

Branden Maughmer, who tallied 23 points, made a layup with 15 seconds to go to force OT. Demond Parker and Isaiah Speelman added 11 points each.

Marauders fade in loss

ALBANY, Georgia – CSU was unable to overcome second half struggles in 81-76 road loss to Albany State

The loss drops CSU to 6-5 overall with a 3-3 record in SIAC play. ASU improves to 7-7 on the season and 4-1 in the SIAC.

Three ASU players scored in double-figures led by Randy McClure’s 22 points. Mario Young scored 17 points. Kamil Brown added 14 points, three assists and five rebounds.

Hunter led CSU with a season-high 27 points and seven steals. Dreon Lewis finished with 11 points and six rebounds.

The Marauders will return to action on Jan. 4 when they host Clark Atlanta.

Rams roll past Southeastern

JAMESTOWN — Gabe Caudill scored 21 points, while Rhett Burtch and Cole Allen scored 14 each, in Friday’s 69-44 boys varsity basketball win over South Charleston Southeastern. No individual scores were provided by Southeastern. The Rams (6-1 overall, 4-1 in the Ohio Heritage Conference) will play against London for a 6:30 p.m. game on Thursday, Dec. 26 next, in the Miami Trace Holiday Tournament, in Washington Court House.

Elks upend Beavercreek

BEAVERCREEK — Visiting Centerville outscored Beavercreek by at least four points in three of the game’s four quarters, on their way to a 56-45 win in boys varsity basketball play. Ada, Duvall led Beavercreek in scoring with 14 points. Centerville’s top scorer was Gabe Cupps, who finished with a game-high 19 points.

Reds Caravan to hit Dayton Jan. 18

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds have announced the dates and locations of the public stops for the 2020 Reds Caravan, presented by the Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network.

The annual Caravan will bring its North Tour to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force on Saturday, Jan. 18.

The Reds Caravan provides fans of all ages with the opportunity to interact with current and former players, top minor leaguers, broadcasters, members of the Reds front office staff, and mascots. At each of the stops, the groups will field questions and sign autographs while time allows.

Among the participants expected for the 2020 Caravan are Aristides Aquino, Tucker Barnhart, Luis Castillo, Amir Garrett, Lucas Sims and Josh VanMeter plus manager David Bell and 2020 Reds Hall of Fame inductee Marty Brennaman.

Representing the Reds farm system on the Caravan will include prospects Jonathan India, Michael Siani, Narciso Crook & José Garcia.

The full list of attendees for each tour group and times of the stops will be announced in early January.

Rams offering youth cheerleading camp

JAMESTOWN — Ever thought about performing with the Greeneview High School cheerleaders at a varsity boys basketball game? Now is your chance. There will be a youth camp (for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade) on Jan 8, 9, and 11 and then halftime performance on Jan 11 during halftime of the varsity game at the High School. Camp form is available on the website under Resources. Cost is $25, which includes a T-shirt if signed up by Jan 8.

Jarryd McNeil, a 15-time X Games medalist, eight-time gold medalist Adam Jones, four-time gold medalist Vicki Golden and X Games veteran Beau Bamburg are scheduled to perform, along with pro skateboarder Beaver Fleming and BMX rider Kurtis Downs, among others.

The appearance on May 15 will mark the first-ever performance in Dayton for Nitro Circus.

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum presented by Dinsmore is once again offering off-season clubhouse tours of Great American Ball Park. The two-hour Major League Clubhouse Tours include the Reds and visitor’s clubhouses, visitor’s dugout and more exclusive areas.

Tours are available each Saturday at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. The tours run weekly until March 14, 2020. The Clubhouse Tour also includes admission to the newly-renovated Reds Museum.
