Bulldogs nipped at home
YELLOW SPRINGS — Dayton Christian outscored host Yellow Springs 19-12 in the final period of play (33-23 in the second half) to rally to a 48-44 win Thursday night in Metro Buckeye Conference action. Yellow Springs led 21-15 at halftime.
Elizabeth Smith led the Bulldogs with a game-high 21 points and nine rebounds. Jasmine Davidson was next with seven points scored and eight boards.
Marin Reis and Kiana Klein scored 14 and 12 points respectively for the Warriors.
The Bulldogs, now 0-19, 0-9 MBC, host Springfield Catholic Central at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1.
Golden Eagles roll over Monroe
Bellbrook claimed a 78-29 win over Monroe on Thursday. No details of the game were provided on the Southwestern Buckeye League’s website.
Bellbrook is now 18-0, 10-0 in the Southwestern Buckeye League’s, Southwestern Division. They will host second-place Oakwood at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
Indians hand WL-Salem first loss
Cedarville defeated West Liberty-Salem, 44-36, Thursday night to hand the Tigers their first Ohio Heritage Conference loss of the season.
The Indians (16-3, 8-3 OHC) play at Mechanicsburg at 7 p.m. Saturday. WL-Salem is now 15-3 overall, 10-1 in the OHC.
Beavers lose on the road
DAYTON — Jackson Back scored 12 points, Jon Alessandro added 11 and Cedric Baldwin tossed in 10 as visiting Beavercreek fell to Dayton Dunbar, 57-45, on Wednesday.
The Beavers (3-13, 0-5 Greater Western Ohio Conference, Central Division) played even with the Wolverines through the first half, but Dunbar exploded with a 19-4 third quarter to jump out in front for good.
Beavercreek played at top-ranked Huber Heights Wayne on Friday. They’ll host Centerville next, at 7:30 p.m Tuesday, Feb. 2.
Xenia falls to Springboro Blue
Xenia Warner’s eighth grade boys basketball team lost to Springboro Blue, 63-37, on Thursday. Blake Carson led the Bucs with 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Trent Jordan added four, with Cameron McFarland and Andrew Pollander scoring three each, and Kyle Lane and EJ Wilson two each.
Pirates scuttle Warner
Xenia Warner’s 8th grade boys basketball team lost a tough game to West Carrollton on Wednesday, 38-35. Blake Carson led the Bucs in scoring with 10 points. EJ Wilson and Gavin Gerhardt each scored six, Andrew Pollander added five, Trent Jordan and Alex Sparks scored three each, and Nate Saner scored two.

Michalski G-MAC’s Athlete of the Week
CEDARVILLE — Cedarville’s Daniel Michalski has been selected the G-MAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Michalski, a graduate of Xenia High School, won the mile run at the Youngstown State Invitational in 4:16.50.
It was a tight finish with the sophomore winning by just 0.36 seconds.
Michalski’s effort took more than three seconds off of his previous G-MAC record of 4:19.97.
The Yellow Jackets resume their season at the Spire Midwest Open in Geneva, Ohio on Saturday.
Yellow Jackets bash Davis & Elkins
CEDARVILLE — The host Cedarville University Yellow Jackets took on Davis & Elkins, and beat ‘em both, 72-41, Thursday at Cedarville University’s Callan Athletic Center. Cedarville (15-5, 6-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) held a 43-23 lead at the break, then outscored D&E 14-2 in the third quarter to pull away for good.
All 12 Yellow Jackets players scored and had at least one rebound. Kaysie Brittenham scored a game-high 16 points, and Christina McQueen led the team in rebounds with seven.
Cedarville will host Alderson Broaddus for a 2 p.m. contest, Saturday Jan. 30 at the Callan Athletic Center.
Davis & Elkins nips Cedarville
CEDARVILLE — Visiting Davis & Elkins escaped the Callan Athletic Center with a 62-61 win, Thursday night, on Jordan McElveen’s late-game 3-pointer.
Kevin Bracy-Davis led the Senators with a game-high 20 points to go with 16 rebounds, also a game-high.
Easton Bazzoli scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Cedarville (8-10, 1-3 Great Midwest Athletic Conference). The Yellow Jackets will next host Alderson Broaddus for a 4:15 p.m. contest Saturday at the Callan Athletic Center.
Fairborn girls softball taking registrations
FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Girls Softball Association is now accepting registrations for its fastpitch girls 10U to 18U and slowpitch girls 5-20 leagues. Girls from all communities are welcome.
Registration fee is $60 by Jan. 31, $70 starting March 1, with a $10 discount for additional family members.
In-person registration will take place 1-3 p.m. Jan. 31, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Feb. 6 and 1-3 p.m. Feb. 21 at The Inside Scoop, located at 313 W. Main St.

Reds Caravan hits Dayton on Saturday
CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds Caravan will make a stop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the National Museum of the Air Force.
The tour will consist of catcher Devin Mesoraco, minor league pitcher Cody Reed, former Reds catcher and Dayton Dragons catching coach Corky Miller, President of Baseball Operations Walt Jocketty, Chief Operating Officer Phil Castellini and mascot Mr. Redlegs.
The Caravan tour, presented by the Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network, provides fans with the opportunity to interact with current and former players, top minor leaguers, broadcasters and members of the Reds front office staff. The groups will field questions and sign autographs while time allows.
All Caravan fan stops are free and open to the public, and at each fan stop listed below the Reds will raffle two tickets to the 2016 Opening Day game on Monday, April 4 (4:10 pm) vs. the Philadelphia Phillies.
Reds sales representatives will be at each stop to answer ticketing questions and discuss 2016 ticket plans, while the Reds Hall of Fame, the Reds Community Fund and Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network will attend select stops.
Memberships to the Reds Heads Kids Club, Reds Rookies Baby Club, Club Red and Reds Hall of Fame & Museum will be for sale at select stops.
Seating is limited at all Caravan stops. Autographs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while time allows. No posed photographs. There may be restrictions on items celebrities can sign.
