Beavercreek hosting fundamentals girls basketball camp

BEAVERCREEK — The 16th Amanda (Reese) Crockett and Ed Zink Beavercreek Fundamental Girls Basketball Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 6-9 at Beavercreek High School.

Cost is $100 per camper with a $10 discount for additional campers from the same family. Anyone who registers by May 20 can register for $90.

Camp will be administered and taught by Beavercreek’s all-time scoring leader Amanda (Reese) Crockett, and current Beavers coach and three-time coach of the year Ed Zink, along with current and former basketball players.

The camp is designed to provide campers with personal attention to improve their basketball fundamentals. Campers will also develop their skills and teamwork each day during league play.

Campers will receive a camp t-shirt, a drink each day, and trophies/awards for contest winners.

Also, Thursday June 9 is Mother-Daughter Camp Day, and family members are invited to participate.

Rotary Club outing, May 20

BEAVERCREEK — The Rotary Club of Beavercreek will host the 34th Annual Beavercreek Rotary Club Memorial Golf Outing Friday, May 20 at the City of Beavercreek Golf Club.

The four-team scramble format will provide prizes for skills competitions throughout the day. Check in begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start slated for 12:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will follow the scramble at 5 p.m. on the patio overlooking the course.

Cost for the scramble is $100 per person; $400 per foursome. The fee includes greens fee, cart, lunch, and refreshments. Registration is currently open. In addition, there are several opportunities for organizations to sponsor the event, including.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Beavercreek Schools’ Multi-handicapped classrooms, Wright State University scholarships, STEM fellowships and Owen’s Place.

Dutch Lions women’s schedule announced

DAYTON — The Dayton Dutch Lions FC women’s team, participating in the Women Premier Soccer League (WPSL), announced their 2016 match schedule. The Lady Lions, competing at the highest level of amateur soccer in North America will open the season at home on Sunday, May 22 at DOC Stadium in West Carrollton.

The eight-game schedule is highlighted by home and away matches with local Ohio teams Cincinnati Sirens and Columbus Eagles. The Lions will also face Fire and Ice Soccer Club from Illinois and FC Pride from Indiana.

Prices for single-match tickets are $5 for youth and $8 for adult, with opportunities for “Orange Family Four” single ticket purchase that includes admission and meal for two adults and two youth.

Season Ticket memberships are available for $24 and offer full season members the lowest pricing, game day meal and admission to all DDL women’s season matches. In addition, they will receive notice of exclusive special events and other privileges announced throughout the season.

After five seasons in the USL W-League, this will be the Lions first season in the WPSL, which has a history dating back for 18 years. The WPSL has provided a major development platform for future professional players. The league has helped top-players rise to the professional ranks. Among the WPSL’s alumni are U.S. Women’s National Team stars Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and recently retired Abby Wambach.
