The Xenia Community City School District named Nathan Kopp as the new athletic director at Xenia High School during Monday’s school board meeting.

Kopp earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in health and physical education K-12 from Wright State University in 2003. He earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Dayton in educational leadership in 2011 and finished coursework for his principal’s license from the University of Dayton in 2015. He currently is serving as a health and physical education teacher for Troy City Schools, a position he has held since 2004.

“I have no doubt I have the passion and energy it takes to build on the outstanding tradition of Xenia athletics, and to move it forward into the future,” Kopp said in an emailed statement.

In addition to teaching, Kopp has served as the varsity baseball coach for Pleasant Hill Newton High School from 2014 to the present, and as the Troy varsity girls basketball coach from 2007 until now. Kopp was selected as the District 9 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012. He was named the Greater Western Ohio Conference North Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2013 in girls basketball as well. His Troy teams were the GWOC North champions in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Kopp was a 28th round draft pick of Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees in 2002.

He replaces Mark Stoll, who has announced he will retire after this school year.
