Skyhawks sweep Middletown

FAIRBORN — Host Fairborn claimed a pair of wins against Middletown in a Saturday doubleheader at Fairborn High School.

Jon Fields had three singles and drove in three runs, including the game winner, in a 6-5 win in Game One. Brent Grody had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run. Jacob Webb (6-2) got the pitching win, and he struckout the side in the seventh.

In Game Two, Matt Peterangelo knocked in the go-ahead run with a two-run double in the fifth inning. Ryan Profitt singled twice, doubled, knocked in a run and scored a run, Webb had two singles, stole a base and drove in a run, Will Coleman doubled, singled, drove in a run and scored once, and Dustin Myers went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI and a walk, in an 8-6 win.

Jake Neece got the pitching win while Grody earned the save.

Greeneview upends Southeastern

JAMESTOWN — Dylan Lehotay fanned three batters and scattered five hits in a compete-game win, while Rams teammates Tommy Smith (three) and Jacob Green (two) accounted for five of Greeneview’s nine hits in Friday’s 10-6 win over South Charleston Southeastern.

Indians fall to Catholic Central

Cedarville earned a win at first singles, but Springfield Catholic Central won the other four matches on Friday.

WRESTLING

Fairborn hosting wrestling camp

FAIRBORN — Fairborn High School will host a Champions wrestling camp June 13-16 in the high school gymnasium. The camp will feature 2016 Olympian, NCAA champion and 2015 World Champion Kyle Snyder, four-time NCAA All-American and 2016 NCAA champ Nahshon Garrett, 2016 NCAA All-American and 2015 NCAA champ Nathan Tomasello, two-time NCAA All-American and four-time OHSAA state champ Bo Jordan, and 2016 NCAA wrestling qualifier Jake Ryan.

Sessions will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 13, 14 and 16, and from 3-8 p.m. June 15. Cost is $160 through May 20, $185 thereafter. Deadline to register is June 10. Coaches with five or more wrestlers registered can attend free and will have the opportunity to take part in the camp.

Dynamo lose opener

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Yuri Farkas broke a 1-all tie in the match’s 79th minute to earn host AFC Ann Arbor a 2-1 win over the Dayton Dynamo on Saturday.

Marc Hansson scored the lone goal for Dayton (0-0-1).

The Dynamo will play their home opener at 7 p.m. Friday, against National Premier Soccer League foes Lansing (Mich.) United, at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium. Visit daytondynamo.com for ticket information.

Midwest Drift Union joins Muscle Car Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS — The Midwest Drift Union has been added to the National Muscle Car Association’s Muscle Car Nationals, June 23-26 at Lucas Oil Raceway. The 15th Annual NMCA All-American Nationals features heads-up drag racing, huge all-American car show on both Saturday and Sunday as well as a giant manufacturer’s midway, burnout contest and swap meet. Tire smokin’ Camaros, Corvettes, and Mustangs take on the world as Midwest Drift Union’s racer base invades the oval adjacent to Lucas Oil Raceway’s famed 1/4 mile for Round 2 of the Enjuku Racing MDU Championship Series.

The Midwest Drift Union series will end its season on Sept. 17 at Xenia’s Kil-Kare Raceway.

RUNNING

Ruffner Memorial 5K set for May 13

XENIA — The second annual Joseph T. Ruffner Memorial 5K Run will take place starting at 6 p.m., Friday May 13 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1120 S. Detroit St.

A free Kids Fun Run will get under way at 5:45 p.m. for kids ages 8 and under, with the adult race starting with a balloon launch at 6 p.m. The course is stroller and leashed pet friendly, with a water station at the halfway point and at the finish line.

Rotary Club outing, May 20

BEAVERCREEK — The Rotary Club of Beavercreek will host the 34th Annual Beavercreek Rotary Club Memorial Golf Outing Friday, May 20 at the City of Beavercreek Golf Club.

The four-team scramble format will provide prizes for skills competitions throughout the day. Check in begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start slated for 12:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will follow the scramble at 5 p.m. on the patio overlooking the course.

Cost for the scramble is $100 per person; $400 per foursome. The fee includes greens fee, cart, lunch, and refreshments. Registration is currently open. In addition, there are several opportunities for organizations to sponsor the event, including.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Beavercreek Schools’ Multi-handicapped classrooms, Wright State University scholarships, STEM fellowships and Owen’s Place.
