SPRINGFIELD — The Fifth Annual Driving with Colleen Golf Outing fundraiser raised $10,000 for the Greene Medical Foundation Circle of Victory.

Held June 26 at Locust Hills Golf Club the money was raised through participants of the outing and a raffle, the Driving with Colleen organization.

Circle of Victory provides financial help to cancer patients living in Greene County including: cancer treatment, needs associated with treatment, medication/prescriptions and wigs and prostheses.

Colleen Cain started Driving with Colleen in 2012, while fighting cancer herself in order to help fellow cancer patients. Colleen lost her battle to breast cancer Nov. 16, 2014.

Over three years, she was able to raise over $10,000 for Circle of Victory. Upon her passing, Colleen’s family and friends decided to carry on her legacy. After a successful social media and marketing strategy, Driving with Colleen was able to make this year’s event the biggest yet with 163 golfers. The event had many other attendees to make it “huge success” according to director Jessica Rudolf.

A post-outing dinner was also held where many donated items were given away in a raffle drawing. A short event recap video can be viewed at: http://drivingwithcolleen.org. For more information on go to www.drivingwithcolleen.org or facebook.com/drivingwithcolleen.

The next Circle of Victory Walk will take place Oct. 2 in Fairborn’s Community Park. There will be a balloon launch, music vendors and health screenings. Sign up as a family, group or individual contact the GMF Circle of Victory at 937-352-2250 or on Facebook.
