JEFFERSON TWP. — A late-morning fire gutted part of a home outside of Bowersville Thursday.
Mutual aid was needed from Cedarville, Xenia, Silvercreek and Port William/Liberty townships to help battle the blaze in the 5900 block of Hanley Road.
Crews arrived to an active fire, according to Jefferson Township Fire Chief Luke Brubaker and needed about 30 minutes to get it under control.
No one was home and media reports indicate the building was vacant. According to county records, it was built in 1900.
