MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Andrew Tuck, a driver of Addison Transportation Inc., is representing FedEx Ground in the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) in St. Louis.

Tuck, from Xenia, earned the right to compete in the NTDC, which ends Aug. 15, by winning at the Ohio Truck Driving Championships held May 15-16. The American Trucking Associations (ATA) sponsor the NTDC, which is designed to recognize industry leadership in safety and to promote professionalism among truck drivers.

“FedEx team members are among the safest in the industry, and the number of state finalists at the NTDC exemplifies our commitment to safety,” said Frederick W. Smith, chairman, president and CEO of FedEx Corp. “I’m proud of the 1,812 FedEx team members that qualified to compete at the state level and the 150 finalists competing at the national level.”

Tuck has driven more than 275,000 miles during his nine years of driving and has been accident free for 250,000 of those miles.

At the NTDC, Tuck will be representing FedEx Ground’s Dayton facility in Ohio. Tuck has been driving with FedEx Ground his entire career and this will be his third time competing at NTDC.

At the NTDC, the FedEx drivers will be among nearly 450 competitors who will vie for national titles in nine different classes of vehicles and for the National Grand Champion title. The drivers accumulate points by demonstrating their driving skills and knowledge of the industry through a written exam, pre-trip inspection and driving-skills challenge.

Last year, 150 driving professionals from 48 states representing FedEx Freight, FedEx Ground, FedEx Express, and FedEx Custom Critical qualified to compete at the National Truck Driving Championships by winning their respective state’s competition and driving accident-free for at least one year. Three FedEx drivers captured National Champion titles in the Flatbed, 3-Axle, and Step Van classes. Nine other FedEx drivers earned top-three finishes in their respective vehicle classes.
