Greene County News Report

GREENE COUNTY — Veterans Day serves as a means to honor those who have spent their lives protecting our country, and as part of that day of commemoration, we’d like to tell the stories of local Greene County, living veterans from each of the major wars and conflicts, including World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom and the War on Terror.

Nominate an individual in your life with a unique service or war story. Stories drawn from your nominations will be used in our special commemorative pages on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Nomination forms, which are available on our website (xeniagazette.com/honoring-our-veterans) and in our offices in Xenia, ask nominators for information about the veteran and what makes his or her story unlike other military stories, as well as how their time in the service impacted who they are today.

We ask that nominees be associated with Greene County in some way and have a photo available (preferably of the individual while they are in uniform). To nominate someone you know, download the form from our website or pick one up from our offices, fill it out and bring it in to our offices in Xenia or email it to [email protected] with the subject line “Honoring Our Veterans.”

Nominations must include the information on the form and must have a picture attached. Submissions lacking all information and a picture will not be considered. Nominations will be accepted until Monday, Oct. 26.
