XENIA — Nine Greene County men and women presented a musicale at Victoria’s Bed and Breakfast on Oct. 25. This was the eighth Musicale in a five-year period.

Hostess was Carol Atzbach. The event was organized by Barbara Bradfute, Carl and Carol Atzback, Barry and Melody Kelley. Music from around the world was presented by harpist, Mary Ann Spahr who played a selection from Ireland; Lauren Franz sang “Ave Maria” by Frantz Schubert, Debbie Conrad a flautist played selections from Bach.

Joy Carter sang and played the piano to the song “Wishing You Where Somehow Here Again” from “The Phantom of the Opera.” Joy and Jeff Carter performed a Spanish song “Besame Mucho” Jamie Whitmore played the violin to the song, “I will Sing,” as well as several hymns.

Marcia Bates and Barbara Bradfute played a piano duet for three selections. John Ziegenhagen sang “I Shall Live,” the theme from “Finlandia;” Barry and Melody Kelley performed “Brahms Lullaby,” the show opened with “The Star Spangled Banner,” sung by Marcia Bates and ended with Mrs. Bates playing the piano for three Brazilian Melodies.

An audience of 40 enjoyed the performers and look forward to the Spring show.

These musicales are an offshoot of The Music Club which at one time thrived in Xenia. Barbara Bradfute and Jeff Carter are related to Franz Schubert.

The historical venue of the musicale took the audience back to a less hectic time.
