BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek City Schools Superintendent Bill McGlothlin plans to retire from his position effective July 31, 2016. McGlothlin announced his intentions of resigning to the school board in a letter dated Nov. 12.

“It has been a pleasure to have served Beavercreek City Schools for the past six years,” he wrote.

According to school board president Mick Lundy, the board plans to work with K-12 Business Consulting, a Columbus-area firm that aids school districts in superintendent and treasurer searches, to find McGlothlin’s replacement.

Lundy said a representative from K-12 will meet with the board in executive session Dec. 17 to lay out a timeline for the search process and said the board’s hope is that by March it would have an individual to step into the role when McGlothlin retires.

“Bill has been a great guy, he’s done a good job, it’s just we all get to the point where it’s time to retire,” Lundy said. “He’s ready for that stage of his life. He’s done nothing but phenomenal things for Beavercreek. We are in such a strong position right now as a school district financially, all the way around. He’s done nothing but good things for the district.”

McGlothlin joined the district in 2010 as associate superintendent, was named interim superintendent in August 2012 and was given the title of superintendent in December 2012.

“He’s definitely somebody that rolls up his sleeves and gets the job done,” Lundy said of McGlothlin. “He’s reliable, he shows up every day, he’s a strong leader and he’s a hard worker. Couldn’t ask for anything more in a superintendent.
