YELLOW SPRINGS — The Village of Yellow Springs will get into the seasonal spirit Saturday, Dec. 12 during its Holiday Fest, with more than 65 shops, galleries and eateries open and offering holiday gifts, food and holiday “spirits.”

The Mills Lawn Gingerbread Festival, starting at 11 a.m., is promised to appeal to both adults and kids. There will be a gingerbread house contest for all ages (registration required), cookie cottage decorating for kids, “Santa Springs” raffle for local merchandise, candy count contest, face-painting, hot cocoa and cookies in addition to a selfie station. Santa Claus will also be joining the festivities from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be horse-drawn wagon rides provided by Horse-N-Around Farm starting at noon.

Festivities at Mills Lawn Elementary School last until 4 p.m. Parents can participate in the fun or use the chance to do a little holiday shopping downtown, which is a block from Mills Lawn.

Jingle Bell Rock on down to the Little Art Theatre takes place 11:30 a.m. for a showing of “Polar Express”, as part of its Family Holiday Series. Also enjoy the Holiday Pottery Sale at John Bryan Community Pottery from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., followed by the Arts Alive! Holiday concert and cookie bake-off at the Yellow Springs Arts Council from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Ye Olde Trail Tavern is featuring “The Twelve Drinks of Christmas,” in which both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails are offered to warm up attendees while they’re out enjoying the event. Individuals are also free to head down to Yellow Springs Brewery to taste its newest brew or old favorites. Meanwhile, S&G Artisan Distillery will offer a taste of its Honey Do.

Adding to the holiday spirit is Young’s Tree Farm, where individuals can pick or cut their own tree and explore the lights of Clifton Mill. To find out more information about Yellow Springs’s Holiday Fest and other activities in Yellow Springs, visit www.yellowspringsohio.org or call 937-767-2686.
