XENIA — Hillside Assisted Living, a local facility serving veterans, Medicaid patients, and private pay residents held its first Father’s Day Cook-Out & Cruise-In.

Owners Jim and Mary-Lou Preston hosted the event for residents and their families, staff, and volunteers from the community, providing brats, hot dogs, hamburgers and sides served up by the Steadman family, bible study volunteers from Troy. Games, as well as tables and chairs were provided by Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Residents and their guests were able to pick from a variety of prizes furnished by the Prestons and all enjoyed participating in voting for their favorite cars at the Cruise-In, organized by Ron Lockhart from the Veterans Association. Jim Fry won Best-In-Show Overall with his Chevelle Super Sport and Best-in-Show Resident’s Choice went to Gene Strider for his 56 Chevy Delivery Sedan. Hillside staff, including former and off duty, all pitched in to help make the evening a success.
