XENIA — The Friends of Xenia Station is sponsoring Xenia’s Second Annual Junked Bike Art Competition in conjunction with the 2015 Xenia Community Festival.

Artists of all ages, whether as an individual or as a group, can take an unused, old bike and turn it into a fun, quirky, fancy, beautiful, fascinating piece of art. These bikes will be displayed during the Xenia Community Festival 4-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at Shawnee Park.

Festival goers will vote for their favorite work of art, with a grand prize of $100 being awarded to the work voted best of show. First, second, and third place winners all receive a one-year Friends of Xenia Station membership.

Interested artists need to submit an “intent to participate” form with the required $10 entry fee for each submission by Saturday, Aug. 15.

Finished bikes will need to be delivered to the display area at Shawnee Park, adjacent to the Armory between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.. Contact FOXS at 937-376-1080 to make alternative delivery arrangements.

For complete competition details and to download the participation form, go to the Xenia Community Festival page on FOXS’ website, www.xeniastation.org. For more information contact Kathleen Lewis, event co-coordinator, at 937-376-1080 or [email protected].
