XENIA – Guest speaker for the September meeting of the Women in Business will be from dedicated local volunteer Elaine Hughes. The luncheon will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 at the Xenia YMCA, 135 E. Church St.

Elaine Hughes will speak about her life as a nurse and community volunteer. Her volunteer career is an extensive list, the beneficiaries of her kindness and activism include Xenia Community Schools, Greene County Children Services, Greene County Parks and Trails, Xenia’s Drop-in Homeless Shelter, Westminster Presbyterian Church and Dayton United Lutheran Chorale.

Hughes was a volunteer registered nurse at the Living Well Clinic, nominee for March of Dimes Nurse of the Year, former secretary of the Greene Community Health Foundation, Greene County Combined Health District Employee of the Year, first woman president of the Jamestown Lions Club and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She has served on numerous boards, councils, associations, committees, booster groups and church groups, including portraying Mrs. Santa Claus for Headstart children.

Attendees of the meeting can also take a survey to choose the future location of the WIB Luncheon. This Luncheon will be catered by One Bistro. Please note that the deadline this month for reservations is 12 p.m. Tuesday prior to the meeting.

Women in Business meets the first Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. for lunch. The buffet is $12 for those who register. The charge for late registration or walk-ins is $20.
