XENIA — Christian southern gospel singer Abby Paskvan will headline a free benefit concert at Xenia Christian Schools.

Proceeds from the free-will offering event, 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, will benefit the Greater Grace Orphanage, Inc. The orphanage was founded in 1999 by Xenia resident Joseph Obielodan to provide food, shelter, and a nurturing environment for just some of the millions of orphans in Nigeria.

Obielodan was trained by Serving in Missions missionaries and hopes that children will learn to play an active role in their local church and serve as mentors for other orphans one day.

Paskvan, 19, has been entertaining and providing hope for more than a decade. A southern gospel recording artist with Chapel Valley Recording Studios, Paskvan — a student at Bowling Green State University — was voted one of the top five for “New Soloist of the Year” by the fans of the Singing News Magazine. This year she travelled with “The Hoppers” filling in for Kim Hopper. Her most recent album, “I Will Go,” was released in late 2014.
