XENIA — Members of Xenia-based rock band Warshful found out first-hand what it’s like to record and release an album.

“It was kind of a long process,” said drummer Ryan Orchard, a senior at Xenia High School.

It was more than just recording music. There was a plethora of paperwork and online registrations and copyrighting issues to sort through. But it all paid off for the four-member band.

Saturday, Sept. 26 “Raindrops,” a four-song EP will be available on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon just to name a few. It can also be purchased at warshful.com.

“It feels pretty good to finally have something that you can put to your name,” Orchard said.

In addition to the title track, the EP features “Blow it Away,” “Washed Up,” and “Mean Machine.”

All were written by the band.

“They’re all rock and roll but they’re all different in their own special way,” said lead guitarist Brendan Orchard, a freshman at Cedarville University.

The rhythm and style differ, but there is a flow to the EP.

“It takes you through ups and downs and all that,” said lead vocalist E Lai Comte, a freshman at Wright State University.

“You’ll just have to listen to the EP and find out,” added Brendan Orchard.

It took about a week for record the music at All These Studios in Cincinnati. Mixing and mastering took another month.

“The EP sounds amazing,” said bassist Caleb Jones, a senior at Xenia High School. “I can’t actually wait for the fans to hear it.”

That’s not all the good news for Warshful.

The band has advanced to the second round of the four-round Battle of the Bands at the Underground in Cincinnati. Its next appearance is Oct. 30. The finals are slated for January 2016.

“We’re hoping to make it to the finals and win it,” Brendan Orchard said.
