Bellbrook tops Milton-Union

BELLBROOK — Raif Foster was the medalist with a 40 to lead Bellbrook’s golf team to a 169-184 win over West Milton Milton-Union, Sept. 7 at Homestead Golf Course. Mason Zimmer followed with a 41, and Luke DiCicco and Sean Ulrich 44.

Greeneview blanks Wilmington

JAMESTOWN — Reannah Hilderbrandt scored a pair of goals and Hailee Brown added one to lead Greeneview to a 3-0 win over Wilmington. Kaitlynn Hinkle and Brooklyn Langford assisted for the Rams.

Carroll VB tops Greeneview

JAMESTOWN — The Carroll girls volleyball team topped Greeneview, 25-21, 25-18, 15-25, 22-25, 7-15, Sept. 7. Brianna Seigfried had 11 assists, while Ashley and Kaitlyn Schloss each had four kills. Jenna Basinger and Maddie Hines had five digs each.

The reserve team beat Carroll, 25-13, 21-25, 25-14.

Sidney girls blank Fairborn

FAIRBORN — Fairborn drops to 1-5-1 after a 3-0 loss to Greater Western Ohio Conference foe Sidney Sept. 7.

Fairmont tops Fairborn

FAIRBORN — Brooklyn Hunter won an entertaining match at first singles, beating Kettering Fairmont’s Hannah Jones, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6, but it wasn’t enough as the Firebirds won, 4-1, Sept. 7.

Acadia Wulf lost, 2-6, 1-6, at second singles and Kyla Secrest lost, 1-6, 0-6, at second singles. Preslee Chapman and Shayna Osborn played their best match this season in a 3-6, 3-6 loss at first doubles, while Megan Koonce and Dakota Thacker played better in an 0-6, 0-6, at second doubles.

Fairborn is 4-9 overall but coach Doug Coy was happy with the team’s performance.

“I told the girls last night that I was a little disappointed in our effort (against Greenville) and that we needed to come out with a little more enthusiasm against Fairmont, and they definitely did that tonight,” he said.

Jackets announce video schedule

CEDARVILLE — The Cedarville University Athletic Department will video stream 28 events this fall in association with Stretch Internet. This will mark the sixth year of the Yellow Jackets’ working agreement with Stretch. Fans have the availability to watch on computer or hand-held devices.

The first event was Sept. 8 – G-MAC soccer doubleheader with Trevecca. All seven women’s soccer regular season home matches, as well as nine men’s contests, will be covered. The first of 10 volleyball contests will be on Sept. 20 when the Lady Jackets host Findlay. Cedarville will also stream the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships on Sept. 30. Fans can also follow Cedarville University Athletics on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat.

WSU women on the road

FAIRBORN — The Wright State women’s soccer team will hit the road to play 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 at Belmont and at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lipscomb. The Raiders are riding a two-game winning streak after shutting out Saint Francis, Pa., 2-0, and Fort Wayne, 1-0, last week. Wright State will next be home Sept. 16 to host Detroit and Sept. 18 to host Dayton. Both games will be broadcast at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.

Raider men open league play

FAIRBORN — The Wright State men’s soccer team will start Horizon League play as they visit Green Bay at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. The Raiders (3-1) were ranked ninth in the latest Great Lakes Region Poll.

WSU and Green Bay tied 0-0 in Dayton a year ago, but the Raiders won 1-0 in 2014 at Green Bay. Since 2011, WSU has gone 5-0-1 against the Phoenix. Andre Baires has scored Green Bay’s lone goal, and goalie Kyle Ihn has a 2.75 goals against average.

Looking ahead, the Raiders will play Sept. 13 at Bowling Green before hosting Illinois Chicago at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 on ESPN3.

Hummingbirds Soccer offered

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek Parks and Recreation in cooperation with Jump Start Sports is offering Hummingbirds Soccer for children ages 3-6. The program is scheduled for Mondays, Sept. 12 through Oct. 17, 5:30-6:30 p.m. for ages 3-4 and 6:30-7:30 p.m. for ages 5-6. at Rotary Park.

Boys and girls will have fun while learning the basics of soccer: dribbling, passing, trapping, shooting, defending and positioning. Contact the Parks Department at 937-427-5514 or email [email protected].

Beavercreek Stars registration rally set

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek Stars is holding a kickoff registration rally to celebrate the start of the Stars Basketball Season. Join the Stars 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Henley Hall, 766 Space Drive, south of Dayton-Xenia Road off Orchard. Registration is for Stars winter Recreation and Select basketball leagues.

Recreational leagues are for boys and girls grades 1-12. Rec teams are open to students outside the Beavercreek school district. Games are played on weekends. Select Leagues are for grades 3-6. There is also a family work commitment for the Stars Select program. Youth must live in the Beavercreek school district. Season runs October-March. Select players must go through tryouts.

CSU names induction class

WILBERFORCE — The 2016 Hall of Fame Luncheon will be held at Country Club of the North 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14. All those planning to attend must RSVP prior to the event and purchase tickets on or before Friday, Oct. 2.

Five individuals and four teams make up this year’s class: Leonard “Tony” Blaine ‘62, John E. Day ‘71, Eric Love ‘83, Dr. Paul Nitz, James Rollins ‘96, 1960 & 1962 men’s cross country teams, 1983 football team and the 1991 women’s track & field team.
