GREENE COUNTY — Two weeks into the high school football season, the Greene County area has two undefeated teams. And they both won on the road last week.
Beavercreek kept its record unblemished with a 44-14 win over neighboring Carroll on Aug. 31; and Greeneview stayed undefeated with a convincing 35-7 win at Waynesville on Sept. 1.
The two teams have another similarity: They both have a plus-59 points differential, which leaves them tied atop this week’s area rankings.

TOP PERFORMERS
K.J. Redmon, Running Back/Defensive Back, Fairborn — What didn’t Redmon do? The Skyhawks senior gained 79 yards on 16 carries, and also filled in for quarterback Wesley Watts for a good part of the third quarter. Redmon caught two passes for 20 yards, and returned a punt for 12. On defense, he forced one fumble and recovered one, and was credited with eight solo tackles and four assisted tackles.
Damien Mentzer and Hunter Warner, Linebackers, Fairborn — The two Skyhawks backers combined for 25 tackles, with Mentzer leading the way with a team-best 15 in the loss to Bellbrook. Coach Chris Roark said a lot of those tackles were a credit to the Fairborn defensive line opening up holes for Hunter and Warner to fly through.
Brandon Pollock, Running Back/Linebacker, Cedarville — The Cedarville junior scored two touchdowns on the ground, and caught another one in the air, in Cedarville’s 55-24 loss to undefeated Strasburg-Franklin. The Indians’ 19 have yet to play a team that has lost this season. After losses to Mechanicsburg in Week One and S-F last week, they face undefeated West Liberty-Salem this week, and then West Jefferson in Week Four.
Greeneview’s Offense — The Rams rushed 56 times for 425 yards and completed 2 of 2 passes for 30 yards. They ran 58 plays gaining 21 first downs and 455 total yards. Nick Clevenger passed for 30 yards and rushed for 123 yards and two TDs, and Griffin Mangan rushed 20 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns.
Bellbrook’s backs — Justin Sloan, Ethan Savey, Brendan Labensky and Sedrick Ferguson combined for 154 yards gained on 46 carries (and a 2-yard score by QB Labensky) in Friday’s win over Fairborn.
Hayden Bullock, Punter, Bellbrook — The Golden (toed) Eagle booted three punts for 137 yards, or a 45.7-yard average.
Jake Maloney, defensive back, Beavercreek — The Beavers senior caught three passes for a team-high 74 yards (with one touchdown) on offense. On defense, he recovered two fumbles, snagged two interceptions and had four tackles.
Cody Hocker, Quarterback, Beavercreek — Hocker threw for three TD scores in the win over Carroll, on 5-for-6 passing for 145 yards. He also ran the ball another 13 times to lead the team in rushing with 176 yards on 13 carries, and three more touchdowns.
