Furniture store all about community

XENIA — Mike Qendah had a pretty good reason for opening a furniture store in Xenia.

“The community needed it,” he said.

A co-owner of Springfield-based East Main Furniture, Qendah noticed a lot of his customers in Clark County were from Xenia.

“They come to Springfield to shop,” Qendah said.

So Ramsey’s Furniture was born. Named after one of his brothers, Qendah searched for about a year before finding the West Second Street location, which was formerly occupied by a fitness center. After some remodeling, the store opened Nov. 18, 2019.

Needless to say, it was well-received by the community.

“Everybody welcomed us,” Qendah said. “They were so happy. The thing I heard from the people here, they love to support the local businesses. Thank God and thank you for Xenia and the people all over. Lovely people.”

The store literally features wall-to wall name-brand furniture, appliances, mattresses and accessories. What isn’t on the floor, Qendah and his staff can show on a television. Regardless, nearly all of what is offered is ready to go in a warehouse in Springfield, where his brother Fadel runs East Main Furniture.

“I like to have my product in stock,” Qendah said, adding that he can order products if they are not in the warehouse. “Ninety-five percent of the time, we have it in stock.”

Ramsey’s Furniture prides itself on being family owned.

“We’re not like those big chains,” Qendah said. “We try to save whatever we can for the customer.”

Ramsey’s offers financing with several different options, free delivery, and assembly.

“We make sure everything is perfect, 100 percent good to go,” Qendah said, adding that almost 80 percent of what they sell is American made.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. There are some seasonal Sunday hours.
