XENIA — Several local boys and girls golf teams and individuals advanced out of sectional play and earn medalist honors in their respective tournaments.
Bellbrook had both of its boys and girls teams qualify in Division I. The girls side competed at WGC in Xenia on Thursday and finished in second place as a team with a 332 score. Ainsley Gregory was tournament medalist with a 2-over, 75. Lainey Schleich and Alina Shroyer both shot 85 and Alexi Knight added a 87.
The boys were led by C. J. Scohy’s 3-under, 69 at Reid Park’s North Course on Sept. 24. Bellbrook as a team got third place with a score of 308. David Gregory shot 77, Brody Miller had a 79 and Brody Seitz and Jackson Hunt both shot 83.
Beavercreek got its girls team through and one boys moving on as well. The Lady Beavers finished in third at WGC with a 346. Nora Meek got second place in the individual standings shooting 76, and Hailey McKenzie backed her up with an 82. Caitlin Larson shot 89 and Harper Vega shot 99. On the boys team, Jack Faulkner shot 78 at Reid Park North and won a playoff to get the final qualifying spot for individuals.
Also moving on in Division II were individuals from Carroll and Greeneview. Andrew Burkett for the Rams got the last qualifying spot at Reid Park North on Sept. 18. He shot 83. Caleb Goecke lost a scorecard playoff, but was still the final qualifying on Sept. 26 at the Yankee Trace site.
The D-II boys tournament gets underway Tuesday at 9 a.m. The D-I boys will play at 9 a.m. on Monday and the girls will begin at the same time on Tuesday. All tournaments will be held at Pipestone Golf Course in Miamisburg.
