Devotional: Holy body guards

“All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. They got up, drove him (Jesus) out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him down the cliff. But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.” (Luke 4:28-30)

Jesus, walking in the pure will of God, could not be detoured from His mission. It didn’t matter how angry people got over His witness, He was untouchable. It was as though there was a force field around Him as He did His work for the Father. In fact, there was a force field of angels and the Holy Spirit. Jesus didn’t run from this group, or any group trying to do Him harm. Rather, He walked with power and a peace right through His enemies.

The Christian in every generation has had this same force field present in dangerous circumstances. Sometimes this force will lead the believer out of danger or through it, in martyrdom, with peace. We have experienced times when the power of the Spirit has been so powerful we were untouchable in the presence of evil. We have a guardian angel, who is at our side, always watching over us and protecting us from a multitude of dangers. We praise the Lord for His body guards who keep us safe as we seek to live for Him.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your body guards that watch over us continually – Your Holy Spirit and Your Holy Angels. We know You are with us to enable us to do Your will. Guide and protect us to the completion of our Faith Journey of service to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
