Lots going on at senior center

As the winter months roll in, there is plenty to do at the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center.

The center, located at 130 E. Church St., across the street from the Xenia YMCA is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and many evenings and weekends for special events.

The center has a rich history of service to the community as well as fun-filled activities. Days at the center include activities such as line dancing, BINGO, Bridge, Zumba, yoga, music, art, movies, strength and balance, Euchre, Bible study, educational speakers, computer training, men’s fellowship, red hatters, quilting, crafts, and much, much more.

The center offers medical transportation throughout Greene County to seniors 60 and older with its 17 wheelchair-equipped vehicles. Other services include home-delivered meals, housekeeping, and help with benefits.

The center also hosts parties for all occasions and caters events for numerous clubs, such as Kiwanis, Grandmothers’ Club, Shriners and private events.

Members and Non-members alike travel with the center on various trips throughout the year. Planned so far for 2017 are a trip in April to Noah’s Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Ky., a trip to the Snooty Fox in Cincinnati in May, an outing to the Reds game in June, a July trip to the Kentucky Music Highway -Moonshine, Mountains and Music, and a Boston trip in September. The cafe at the center is open to the public 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday through Friday with hot, home-made meals and wonderful desserts. Monthly menus can be sent to your business by calling the Center at 937-376-4353.

Membership to the senior center for individuals age 50 and older costs $25. The cost is $40 for a couple.
