Local libraries announce programs

GREENE COUNTY — The Greene County Community Libraries will hold a variety of programs for the month of Dec.. Some programs require registration contact the local library to register. The following library programs are planned:

Bellbrook

Winters-Bellbrook Community Library is located at 57 W. Franklin St. To register for programs call 937-352-4004.

Gift Wrapping, 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Bring a present already in a box to wrap, or use an empty box of ours to practice on. Wrapping paper, bows, ribbon, and DIY gift tags will be provided. Registration required.

Polar Express: Story & Trains for ages 3-10, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4. Listen to the wonderful holiday story and play with the model trains. Refreshments and a craft.

Tuesday Crochet & Knit Group for adults, 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 12, 19. Bring a project and crochet or knit with us.

Cedarville

Cedarville Community Library is located at 20 S. Miller St. To register for programs call 937-352-4006.

Holiday Music for adults, 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Enjoy the music of a string quartet from Cedarville University during Cedarville’s Little Town of Lights.

Needlework Circle for adults, 6-7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5. Bring a craft work on at the library. Beginners are always welcome.

Jamestown

Jamestown Community Library is located at 86 Seaman Drive. To register for programs call 937-352-4005.

Life-Sized CandyLand for all ages, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. You’ll be the game pieces in the library’s giant Candy Land game, moving along the colored squares past the Candy Cane Forest and Gum Drop Mountain, to reach the Candy Castle. Children 6 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

Holiday Ornaments for all ages, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Make and take a holiday ornament home with you.

Tuesday Story and Playtime, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5. Listen to stories and enjoy the toy area set up for children and parents to play and read books together.

Crafters Night Out for adults, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 12, 19, 26. Stop by the library and join other crafters as they work on various projects, from knitting to scrapbooking.

Wednesday Story and Playtime, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 13. Listen to a story and enjoy the toy area set up for children and parents to play and read books together.

Yellow Springs

Yellow Springs Community Library is located at 415 Xenia Ave. To register for programs call 937-352-4003.

Gingerbread Houses for adults, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. Use pre-baked gingerbread house parts, frosting, and candy to build your own gingerbread house to take home. Registration required.

Local Author Talk: Katrina Kittle for adults, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4. Award-winning author Katrina Kittle will talk about The Story Behind the Stories, which is the journey of a seed of a story to a published book.

Art in the Library: Holiday Edition for age 7 and up, 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5. After school snacks and holiday crafting.

Tweens Read: The Angel Tree for grades 4-6, 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6. Join staff for book discussion, trivia, prizes, and snacks.

Baby Song & Rhyme Time, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 13, 20. Enjoy songs, simple stories, and rhymes with your little one. Ms. Janet presents a short interactive program followed by open playtime.
