Local libraries announce programs

GREENE COUNTY — The Greene County Community Libraries will hold a variety of programs for the month of Dec.. Some programs require registration contact the local library to register. The following library programs are planned:

Bellbrook

Winters-Bellbrook Community Library is located at 57 W. Franklin St. To register for programs call 937-352-4004.

Firsties Book Club for grade 1, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6. This is a special book club for children in first grade. Have fun with early literacy games and projects.

Wednesday Morning Story Time for ages 2-4, 10-10:50 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 13, 20, 27. A morning of stories, music, and crafts.

Babies & Books for ages 6-24 months, 10-10:40 a.m. Dec. 7, 14, 21, 28. Join us for a very special story time for the youngest patrons.

TAG, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. The TAG is a group of teen volunteers who plan and lead programs and do other volunteer projects.

Star Wars Day, 12-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. All ages and Jedis welcome. There will be crafts, activities, trivia, and pop-up story times. Come in costume, but please leave all lightsabers and blasters at home.

Harry Potter Club for ages 8-11, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11. Join fellow Harry Potter fans for a monthly meeting to talk about one aspect of the books.

Ornament Making, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Join library staff in making hot chocolate ornaments. Registration required.

Tuesday Crochet & Knit Group for adults, 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 19. Bring a project and crochet or knit with us.

Make a Gumdrop Tree for ages 7-11, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. Make a holiday gumdrop tree. Registration required.

Cedarville

Cedarville Community Library is located at 20 S. Miller St. To register for programs call 937-352-4006.

Trivia Night for adults will be held at Beans-n-Cream,65 N Main St., 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Join the library for a trivia night. Be prepared to answer questions about pop culture, history, and current events.

After School Fun for ages 6-11, 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Join staff for after school activities which include games and crafts.

Cookie Decorating for ages 12-18, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. Learn cookie decorating techniques from Aubree and take your cookies home to enjoy.

Felt Ornament Make and Take for adults, all day Saturday, Dec. 9. Pop into the library and grab materials to create your own felt ornament.

Create-A-Canvas for adults, 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Join local artist Cheryl Kerns and take home your finished painting. No prior painting experience is required. Registration required.

Jamestown

Jamestown Community Library is located at 86 Seaman Drive. To register for programs call 937-352-4005.

Wednesday Story and Playtime, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 13. Listen to a story and enjoy the toy area set up for children and parents to play and read books together.

Fifth Grade Book Club, 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Join the book club and get the book for next month.

Homemade Ornaments for adults, 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. Make a simple holiday ornaments. All materials will be provided. Registration required.

Crafters Night Out for adults, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 19, 26. Stop by the library and join other crafters as they work on various projects, from knitting to scrapbooking.

Yellow Springs

Yellow Springs Community Library is located at 415 Xenia Ave. To register for programs call 937-352-4003.

Tweens Read: The Angel Tree for grades 4-6, 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6. Join staff for book discussion, trivia, prizes, and snacks.

Baby Song & Rhyme Time, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 13, 20. Enjoy songs, simple stories, and rhymes with your little one. Ms. Janet presents a short interactive program followed by open playtime.

Anime Club, 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Watch some anime and enjoy Japanese treats.

Planner Enthusiasts Unite for adults, 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Join staff the first Thursday of every month to work on your personal planner. Bring your supplies and enjoy time to make your life pretty and functional.

Preschool Story Time, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 15. Join Ms. Janet for fun with stories, songs, rhymes, and a craft.

Jewelry Making with Lily Rose for adults, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. Join staff for a make and take 1940s button brooch. Registration required.

DIY Make-and-Take Crafting Day for adults, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10. Be creative. Various crafting stations will be available for you to connect with your inner artsy self. All crafts you make will be yours to take home. All supplies will be provided.

Folk Dance Basics for adults, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Introductory International Folk Dancing. Learn the basics of line and circle village dances from several locations in Eastern Europe using recorded music. This is a great way to maintain mental and physical health in a friendly atmosphere. No partners needed. Registration required.

Gingerbread Houses: Edible Creations for age 7 and up, 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Decorate a graham cracker house with frosting and candy.

Craft Night for adults, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. The craft is a calico and silk ornament. All supplies provided. Registration required.
