Wittenberg locals graduate

SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg University’s 166th Commencement exercises took place Saturday, May 14. The following local students were among the students earning degrees from Wittenberg University: Moriah Johnston of Yellow Springs.

Ohio Northern dean’s list

ADA — Ohio Northern University announced its spring dean’s list. The deans’ list includes students who attain a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 grading system. The following local residents were named to that list: Briana Hammonds, daughter of Christal Hodits of Beavercreek; Daniel Herting, son of Carl and Judy Herting of Beavercreek; Jason Luthman, son of Michael and Cheryl Ann Luthman of Bellbrook; Shelby Evans, daughter of Dennis and Debora Evans of Cedarville.

WU honors

SPRINGFIELD — Capping off a day-long Celebration of the Liberal Arts at Wittenberg University, the campus community came together to celebrate the achievements of students and faculty members alike at the annual Honors Convocation in Weaver Chapel. The faculty commemorated the occasion in full academic regalia as the university recognized high achievement of students and faculty members in academic and co-curricular activities.

The following local students were recognized: Grace Huffman, Morgan Siefert of Xenia; Kyla McGee, Catherine Bartell, Jack Snider all of Beavercreek.

Comperry named to dean’s list

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Jessica Comperry, a Sophomore Health Sciences major of Beavercreek, was among approximately 890 Bob Jones University students named to the spring 2016 dean’s list. The dean’s list recognizes students who earn a 3-3.74 grade point average during the semester.

WC dean’s list

WILMINGTON — Several area residents are named to the Wilmington College Dean’s List for the 2016 spring semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List honor, a student must be enrolled fulltime and maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Named to the list include: Hannah L. Kockentiet of Alpha; Daniel J. Hayes, Keith A. Hayes both of Beavercreek; Evyn S. Mumy, Haley N. Rowland, both of Fairborn; Katelyn N. Combs, Jessica L. Fair, Samantha L. Spitler, all of Jamestown; Lauren M. Brickey, Mackenzie E. Brown, McKenzie G. Brown, Molly P. Howard, Austin D. Rohrback, all of Xenia.

Ohio Wesleyan dean’s list

DELAWARE — Ohio Wesleyan University is pleased to announce its 2016 spring semester dean’s list. To qualify for OWU Dean’s List recognition, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale in all applicable classes. Locals named to that list include: Shannon Schlater of Fairborn and Emily Van Fossen of Beavercreek.

Heidelberg spring dean’s list

TIFFIN — A total of 327 Heidelberg University students have been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Heidelberg University. Among the local/area student on the dean’s list is Julie Hale of Yellow Springs.

Wilkes University awards degrees

WILKES-BARRE, Penn. — Wilkes University awarded degrees to students graduating after the completion of the spring 2016 semester. Among those were Julie Bixel of Beavercreek received a master of science degree in education.

Hatfield graduates

BETHLEHEM, Penn. — Andrea Hatfield of Xenia graduated with a master of education degree in human development from Lehigh University in Spring 2016.

Local residents graduate

GROVE CITY, Penn. — The following local residents were among the 595 students who received degrees during Commencement exercises at Grove City College on May 14.

Jessica Smith earned a bachelor of science degree in marketing management. Smith is a 2012 graduate of Xenia Christian High School and is the daughter of Christopher and Christine Smith of Xenia.

Kim Schlabach earned a BS in electrical engineering degree and mathematics. Schlambach is a 2012 graduate of Greenon High School and is the daughter of Steve and Melissa Schlabach of Yellow Springs.

The following local students were named to the dean’s list: Kim Schlabach of Yellow Springs, Philip Herzing of Dayton. Students eligible for the Dean’s List have a GPA of 3.40-4.0.

Ohio Connections Academy graduates

COLUMBUS — More than 300 graduating seniors received their high school diplomas as members of the Ohio Connections Academy Class of 2016. The graduating seniors will take part in the online charter school’s commencement ceremony which is to be held at the Columbus Convention Center.

The following students from Greene County are among the Ohio Connections Academy Class of 2016:

Nicholas Lykins and Martin Shiveley, both of Beavercreek; Shay Stout of Bellbrook; James Ireland of Fairborn and Brett Ashby and Bethia Bolton both of Xenia.

Locals graduate

NORMAN, Okla. — Students from 48 states and Washington, D.C., are among candidates for degrees this spring on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus. Brent R. Kester of Beavercreek received a MA in administration.
