XENIA — Xenia Area Community Theater is looking for actors and actresses for its September performance of “And Then There Were None.”

Theater officials are looking for eight men and three women, ages 20 and older. Auditions will consist of a cold read from the script and will take place 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, July 27-28.

In the Agatha Christie mystery/comedy originally titled “Ten Little Indians” – 10 strangers arrive on an island invited by an unknown host. Each of them has a secret to hide and a crime for which they must pay. A mysterious voice accuses each of having gotten away with murder. Then, one-by-one, they succumb to a diabolical avenger.

This is the story that made Christie the best-selling novelist of all time.

“It was so difficult to do,” she wrote, “that the idea had fascinated me.” It was an idea that is now the basis for many Hollywood horror films and has become a cliché to modern audiences. But, it was the Queen of Crime who was the first to do it so successfully that it has become her most adapted piece.

X*ACT’s presentation kicks off “The Agatha Christie Theatre Festival.”

Show dates are Sept. 11-20.
