XENIA — Simon Kenton: Bridges of Hope organizers are holding a community festival 3-6 p.m. Sunday, June 14 at the former school.
Bridges of Hope is a coalition of Greene County service organizations, churches and pastors hoping to convert the former Simon Kenton Elementary School building to a one-stop shop to connect needy persons to life-enriching services. Once updated, the facility will also serve as an active center for volunteers looking for ways to serve their neighbors and their community. It will also feature a homeless shelter.
The festival will feature a representation of the churches, ministries and agencies that will fuel Bridges of Hope. Food will be available, along with tours of the building and a games and activities for kids. The building is at 1087 W. Second St. It served as an elementary school from 1975 until 2012.
