HUBER HEIGHTS – Two Enon residents were killed in a two car automobile crash on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Traffic came to a halt on State Route 4 North near Lower Valley Pike after a crash killed two people and sent another man to the hospital. The crash took the lives of father and son Richard Serow, 77, and Craig Serow, 48, both of Enon.

Authorities were on the scene just before 3:30 p.m. Investigators are still investigating what led up to the crash.

“We know the silver Honda was crossing Route 4,” Huber Heights Police Department Lt. Matt Dulaney said. “The maroon ford truck was traveling north bound on Route 4 and the silver Honda pulled into the path of the truck.”

When first responders arrived, the passenger in the silver Honda was found ejected found the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Bystanders who stopped were able to give CPR to the driver, but to no avail. The driver of the Maroon truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by family members.

“I know that one of the individuals in the car was wearing there seat belts because the officers had to cut it,” Lt. Dulaney said. “He was hanging partially out of the car and they had to cut the seat belt to get him the rest of the way out so they could start treating him.”

It was raining at the time of the crash. However, authorities aren’t sure yet if the weather conditions played a role in the fatal event.

“We have to reconstruct the crash,” Lt. Dulaney said. “We’re going to reconstruct it to see if we can determine any additional causes or factors.”
