FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Area Historical Society (FAHS) will feature a special general meeting, as well as an opportunity to get prepared for the holidays beginning 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Fairborn Senior Center, 325 N. Third St.

The special presentation by Dawne Lazzerine is about the history of the National Museum of the United States Air Force. More details will follow on FAHS’s Facebook page. The meeting is open to the public as well as members of the society.

In addition to the presentation, those in attendance are invited to join in a silent auction competition bidding. Auction proceeds will go to FAHS. Auction items include, but are not limited to, antique items from Osborn and Fairfield (the villages that combined to become Fairborn) and items from the Dottie and Bob Gheen collection, such as car magazines and 1944 Ohio State programs. Other items in the silent auction include Fairfield glass mugs, collectible postcards, Fairfield Depot ashtray and a book “From Huffman Prairie to the Moon.”

The FAHS will additionally offer other tables of donated items for sale at lower prices, such as $5-10, including Fairborn sweat shirts, postcards of Osborn, art collage of noted buildings in Fairborn, Ohio State piggy banks, Dayton Dragons bobble heads and more.

If community members are interested in donating some items for this fundraiser, drop them off at the Fairborn Senior Center between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, or email [email protected].
