WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE – The 113th anniversary of the world’s first powered flight will be observed during a 10 a.m. ceremony Friday, Dec. 16 at the Wright Brothers Memorial on top of the Wright Brothers Hill overlooking Huffman Prairie.

Base officials along with representatives from the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park will attend the ceremony which has become a winter tradition to the Miami Valley.

Col. Bradley McDonald, 88th Air Base Wing commander, along with Steven and Amanda Wright, members of the Wright Brothers family, will jointly perform the annual wreath-laying ceremony.

Dean Alexander, superintendent of the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, will be the honored guest speaker for the event.

A flyover by a P-51 “Mustang” from the Tri-County Warbirds Museum will conclude the event, weather permitting.
