CEDARVILLE — Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted will be among the featured speakers for this year’s Freedom to Flourish mini-conference Tuesday, March 14, at Cedarville University.

The third annual event, hosted by the School of Business Administration and Department of History and Government, is open to the public.

Husted will be the primary speaker at the 7 p.m. lecture in Dixon Ministry Center’s (DMC) Recital Hall. His session will conclude with a question-and-answer period. Also featured are Christopher Brooks and Josh Good.

Brooks, senior pastor of Evangel Ministries in Detroit, will be interviewed by Good, director of the Kern Family Foundation’s Faith, Work and Economics program, 10 a.m. in the DMC chapel. Brooks promotes jobs for low-income individuals in the inner city.

The purpose of the conference is to demonstrate how the free enterprise system allows believers to promote genuine human flourishing, said Bert Wheeler, Berry chair for free enterprise.

“Sometimes we like to divide our world into sacred and secular and believe that those involved in full-time vocational ministry in the church are the only ones that minister to other people,” Wheeler said. “This reminds us that what God has called us to in our vocations can be used by him as a ministry to help others.”
