WYSO presenting Rubi Girls performance

DAYTON — Public Radio station WYSO 91.3FM presents the second annual “WYSO Serious?” spring gala on Saturday, April 1 at Memorial Hall in downtown Dayton with support from presenting sponsor the Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE).

“Last year we were seeking a fun alternative to the nonprofit silent-auction-chicken-dinner thing, and we found it. Everyone had a blast. We invited the Rubi Girls to perform again, and happily they said yes,” said WYSO Development Director Luke Dennis.

The evening will feature a performance from Dayton’s charity-driven drag troupe, The Rubi Girls, who will parody public radio programs with help from the Black Box Improv Theatre and the WYSO staff. The performance will be in Memorial Hall’s historic auditorium.

The first part of the evening will be a cocktail hour in the lower level of Memorial Hall with music DJ’d by Basim Blunt, host of WYSO’s Friday night funk staple “Behind the Groove.” Food will be provided by Christopher’s Restaurant of Kettering plus a cash bar featuring Buckeye Vodka.

Tickets are on sale now at wyso.org/wyso-serious.
