WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base tax center, located in Building 70, door 6, Area A, is the place to go to have your tax returns prepared at no cost. This service is provided for free to active-duty military, retirees and their dependents.

According to Capt. Kristian Diggs, officer in charge, April 13 is the last day for an appointment, while April 18 is the last day to file taxes, and they must be postmarked before midnight.

The tax center provides tax advice, answers legal questions and prepares tax returns with 90- minute appointments. Monday through Friday appointments may be set from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. by calling 937-656-1423. The center is closed for lunch from 11 a.m. to noon.

“The tax center would not operate without our volunteers,” said Diggs. “The retirees, active-duty members and civilians are selfless, dedicated volunteers. Hats off to them for taking time out of their busy schedules and normal day-to-day operations to volunteer.”

So far this tax season, the tax center has prepared 1,292 returns (including state returns). This free service has saved taxpayers $290,000 in fees.

According to Diggs, last year, the tax center, helped 1,532 people, who saved an estimated $583,180.00 in tax preparation fees. The center completed 3,082 tax returns (including state returns), for a total amount of refunds of $3,779,034.

For additional information, contact Diggs at 937-656-1423.
