XENIA — Georgia peaches arrived on a truck at Rural King this week as part of a trip throughout the Miami Valley to get peaches to customers in Ohio.

According to the Georgia Peach Council a Georgia peach is one of the more flavorful peaches. Georgia and particularly the Fort Valley plateau is where 90 percent of Georgia peaches are grown. Historically the area has less freezes and more consistent rainfall and year-over-year temperatures. The hot nights and high humidity allows our peaches to produce sweet Georgia sugar all day and night, according to the Council’s website.

The Peach Truck Tour travels through Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. The Georgia peaches are available by the 1/2 Bushel and 25-pound box. All customers are served on a first come, first serve basis.
