WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — The 88th Medical Group of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is scheduled to break ground on a new pharmacy building June 8 near the AAFES Express in Area A.

The new 10,000-square-foot facility will feature one drive-thru lanes, double the lobby and processing space from the existing Kittyhawk Pharmacy and include a robot capable of filling prescriptions at more than twice the current rate.

The current Kittyhawk Pharmacy processes an average of over 900 prescriptions per day, more than triple what a typical civilian retail pharmacy would perform. With more than 7,000 active duty military stationed at WPAFB and another 100,000 military retirees within 100 miles of the base, the new pharmacy will enhance the wellness and safety of the workforce and their families.

The $10 million contract for the facility allows $6.6 million for construction with another $3.4 million allowed for equipment and furnishings. The Butt Construction Company of Dayton will build the new pharmacy with construction scheduled to be complete by spring 2019.
