CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University’s Jeremy Kimble, Ph.D., assistant professor of theology and interim director of the Center for Biblical Integration, has written a new book, “40 Questions about Church Membership and Discipline.” Kregel Publications released the book May 27.

Kimble’s new title addresses 40 difficult questions about church membership and discipline, covering biblical, theological, ministry and practical issues that commonly challenge churches today. Kimble’s book stems from research he conducted for his Ph.D.

“I have a love for the church,” said Kimble. “As I was thinking about the misunderstandings that are tethered to church discipline, I recognized that there must be more to it theologically and practically.”

Kimble’s book examines the biblical pattern for church membership and discipline and provides church pastors and lay leaders with biblical and theological clarity. He hopes his book will encourage people to become responsible church members and establish healthy churches.

“My hope is that people will understand that church membership is really important and recognize that discipline is not an unloving thing,” stated Kimble. “Membership and discipline are a means to pursue holiness and become more like Christ.”

Kimble has served at Cedarville since 2013. He has also authored “That His Spirit May Be Saved: Church Discipline as a Means to Repentance and Perseverance” (Wipf and Stock, 2013).
