Man shot and killed in Sugarcreek Twp.

SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP — Authorities identified the man who was shot and killed at Cedar Trail Apartments just after midnight July 18.

Police responded to reports of shots fired at the apartments located on Surrey Trail, according to WDTN. When officers arrived, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound in a hallway of the apartment complex. Greene County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Byron Moses, 29.

WDTN reported that while officers were investigating, they saw a vehicle leaving the complex at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle, but terminated the pursuit when the vehicle got on the interstate.

At the scene, a person allegedly approached officers and said Moses had been knocking on their door prior to the shooting. Police took that person into custody for questioning.

Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is taking over the investigation, according to Sugarcreek Township Police.
